Guruji Sanjay Rath: When beneficial planets are in 3rd house, good luck comes from right ear, or right hand. This is peculiar dictum. If śubha Graha are in 3rd house, they give dṛṣti on the 9th house. Dr. B. V. Raman gave high importance to this planet. He is also from tradition. It is commonly believed that malefic Graha in 3rd house, is a good combination. But Dr. B. V. Raman and I are telling something contrary. Why? The difference is that if Śubha Graha are in the 3rd house, you get something without fighting for it. When Pāpa Graha are in the Sahaja bhāva, you have to fight to get something. Earlier is luckier because you are getting it without fighting. Like, Student has Mercury in 3rd house, so, she gets everything without fighting for it, i.e., from friends, colleagues, etc significations of Budha. 3rd house’s first Drekkāṇa is ears. When benefic Graha are in 3rd house, its gemstone worn in form of a ring, proves to be very auspicious. It is generally said by other astrologers that if malefic planet is in 3rd house and is strong, will be very good, particularly in war or fight. But I have contrary belief on this. Who told you to fight or to go to war? It is not good to fight. It is not Śubha Bhāgya. If you go to war, or you fight, you will beat someone, you will hurt someone. That is not good. Is it good to beat someone? 3rd house is your hand. Use it in karma, that is Śubha. 3rd house is Guru-upadeśa. 9th house is not Guru-upadeśa. 3rd house is Guru-upadeśa. Bṛhaspati is very auspicious in 3rd house. It is Maraṇa Kāraka for Guru to be in 3rd house, but it is most auspicious. Maraṇa Kāraka means that the native will follow his Guru’s teaching even in death. Moon is best in 3rd house. Such a person should drink a glass of water before commencing an important work. That work will automatically be done. If Śukra is in 3rd house, it is good. Budha is also good in 3rd house. We are not talking about lordship of 3rd house.
(A student says that he has Rāhu in Lagna, and thus, it has dṛṣti on 9th house)
Guruji Sanjay Rath says: It can give sudden fluctuations in finances. You should make Guru very strong. Rāhu also gives false hope. So, to be prevented from false hope because of Rāhu’s influence on 9th house, Bṛhaspati should be strengthened. Rāhu’s influence on 9th house creates false hopes and false expectations. When somebody tells you something, straightaway discount the expectations by 50 percent. Because you have Rāhu in Lagna, you don’t know when it will get activated. So, when you make your Guru strong, it will not happen. How to make Guru strong? It can be done through a mantra for a Guru form. Where is Guru, and with which planet? (the student tells that his Guru is in 2nd house). So, you should do any Dakṣiṇāmūrti mantra, or any Dattātreya mantra, or any Vyāsa Deva mantra. When you get such a mantra and do it, you will get good results.
Student 8: Karka is Lagna, 9th house has no planets in it, and Guru is in 6th house. Maṅgala is in 3rd house and so, Maṅgala has dṛṣti on 9th house.
Guruji Sanjay Rath continues: Maṅgala is in 3rd house. Pāpa Graha is in 3rd house, thus there must have been a struggle in life. (the student agrees). So, you should take a mantra of Śiva. Otherwise, Maṅgala will not be easily appeased; he will make you struggle in everything. You will get nothing that easily. He will make you fight for everything. You will be tired from all this. (during this, the student says that she had a court case). See, how this Maṅgala in 3rd house, gave court case. Even a little aspect of Maṅgala on 9th house, has the power to tilt the Bhāgya. Guru’s powerful dṛṣti can bring a little peace. But the real remedy is in Śiva. Oṃ Namaḥ Śivāya is better mantra than “Namaḥ Śivāya”. Oṃ Namaḥ Śivāya washes away the papa. With Oṃ Śivāya Namaḥ, Śiva takes care of you. If you are doing Oṃ Namaḥ Śivāya, you are washing away your sins. Do Oṃ Namaḥ Śivāya in the morning. Do Oṃ Śivāya Namaḥ in the evening. Both are different. In the day, Sūrya is powerful, and the person should do karma yoga. Hence do Oṃ Namaḥ Śivāya in day. At night, Moon is more powerful, and is the time of being with family, love and care. So, at that time, you should become dearer to Śiva. Do Oṃ Śivāya Namaḥ in night. Both are different. The mantra Oṃ Namaḥ Śivāya, burns your ṣaḍripu. The mantra Oṃ Śivāya Namaḥ finishes enmity. 6th house has two things, ṣaḍripu and enmity. This is from Tirumantiram. That is a beautiful book.
Student 9: Vṛścika is Lagna, Maṅgala is in 3rd house, 9th house has no planets, while the lord of 9th house is in 5th house along with Śani. Guru is in 10th house.
Guru Sanjay Rath: 9th house has no planets in it. Maṅgala is aspecting 9th house. He is strong warrior, there is no doubt in it. Because that is an exalted Maṅgala. Who should he worship? 9th lord is Moon, so, he should worship Shakti. The form of mother Shakti, will be determined by adjoining Graha, Śani. This form is Kālī Mā, as Śani signifies Kālī Mā.
Student 10: Mīna Lagna, Moon is exalted in 3rd house.
Guruji Sanjay Rath: Moon is exalted in 3rd house. That’s fantastic. Before commencing any work, drink some water. That work will not have any obstacles. However, if Maṅgala is in 3rd house, light a lamp before going out of home to do any work. Bhāgya means protection. Maṅgala is never good in 9th house, or its aspect on 9th house is never good. It definitely gives struggles. Things like, property disputes, court cases, are given by such a Maṅgala. Because a lot of time, money and energy is wasted in these things. Ultimately, life is time. Make the best of time. If you keep wasting time in fights, court cases and disputes, from where will the Bhāgya come? I am also a Mīna Lagna, my father was involved in so many court cases, half of his life, was spent in court cases. It is bad luck. I say to him, what did you get after winning these court cases? Life is wasted. Fights with everyone around you — is there any good in this? What do you get by all this? Why do you want all this? We want love from everyone. So, this Maṅgala should be pacified, as much as it needs to be. Go to war only in one condition, if all the paths to peace are blocked. Do you know that Kṛṣṇa begged for peace before the start of the great war of Mahābhārata. He asked Duryodhana, to give only five villages to Pāṇḍava and to end the fight. War is the last option. War is a sign of bad luck, not good luck. That’s why always pray to Śiva. Your 9th lord is Maṅgala, you definitely need to worship Śiva. Since the co-lord of 9th house is Ketu, you should also worship Guru. Since your Guru is in Mīna, he signifies a top-form like Dakṣiṇāmūrti, or Dattātreya. Guru in such a state, signifies a very divine form like these two. Best stone for you is Pukharāja (yellow sapphire). Because the dictum we discussed, was the beneficial aspect on 9th house, gives good luck. Maṅgala and Ketu are giving you bad luck, while Guru is giving you good luck. The dictum about beneficial Graha in 3rd house is that they give good aspect on 9th house and hence are good for the person. That also applies for Guru in Lagna or 5th house, because Guru in Lagna or 5th house, gives beneficial aspect on the 9th house. Whereas, rest of the beneficial Graha which are Candra, Śukra and Budha; only have the 7th house aspect from where they sit. But Guru has 5th as well as 9th house aspect from where it sits, in addition to the usual 9th house aspect. So, Guru in Lagna or 5th house, puts beautiful aspect on the 9th house, which protects the native from bad luck. Guru is trying to give you good luck because he is in Lagna in Mīna. Strengthen this Jupiter in Lagna. We recommend the gemstones on the grounds of the expectations that we have from the planet. Although red-coral and cat’s eye will also give good results. But the problem is, what you describe as “good”. Please do as I say and strengthen Bṛhaspati. Wear Pukharāja (yellow sapphire). Ketu as the 9th lord gives bad luck when you least expect it. It gives sudden downfalls. It comes as a terrible shock, Ketu gives such a terrible bad luck when it influences 9th house. Please believe me, and wear Pukharāja, and please worship Śiva, because that is best for you. When Maṅgala hits you, it breaks your body and weakens your body. Who is the strongest? It is Rudra. Oṃ Namaḥ Śivāya. Or you can do one more fantastic mantra: Oṃ Namo Bhagavate Rudrāya.
Student 11: Siṃha Lagna, Maṅgala is 9th lord and is in 9th house itself. Bṛhaspati dṛṣti is on 9th house because Bṛhaspati is in 3rd house.
Guruji Sanjay Rath: Bṛhaspati dṛṣti is top-class and that too on Maṅgala. But Maṅgala is 9th lord; hence you should pray to Rudra. While other astrologers will say that Guru is bad in 3rd house. But they don’t know Jyotiṣa. It is beautiful. It works beautifully on Guru-upadeśa, and all works are easily accomplished. Such people get anything without working for it. Because of Maṅgala, you have to struggle, but Guru eases your work and solves everything. It is fantastic, unblemished and beautiful. It is really good.
Student 12: Karka is my Lagna, Mīna Rāśi is in 9th house, Candra and Śani are in the 9th house. Guru and Maṅgala are in Lagna.
Read further
Guru Sanjay Rath: a parivartana has come between Candra and Guru. For a moment, Suppose that Guru is sitting in the 9th house whereas, Candra is sitting in Karka in Lagna. What will we consider as the 9th house and which will be the Lagna among Karka and Mīna? Okay, if you can’t think, then tell me simply. If Candra and Śani are in the 9th house, who will you worship? You should worship Shakti Mā. And the form of mother is Kālī Mā because of Śani sitting here with Candra. A person having Śani in 9th house suffers from terrible bad luck unless and until he/she worships Kālī Mā. But once he/she worships Kālī Mā, their bad lucks gets converted into good luck and they reach heights of success. Even after their death, their name and work remains incomparable. Such is the power of Śani and Kālī Mā in 9th house. See the chart of Rāmakrishna Paramahamsa. Śani in 9th house needs worship of Shakti, and we check Moon for the exact form. Since here, Candra is with Śani, we have reached onto Kālī Mā, because we are following an exact system here. Here we are not checking the lord. Today we are seeing Bhāgya, and learning, who has the power to improve your Bhāgya. Candra and Śani are sitting together in 9th house, only Kālī Mā has the power to turn around your Bhāgya. And remember this, Kālī Mā has an absolutely top-class strength, until you bow down you her, your Bhāgya will never open, she will never open the door. There are many mantras of Kālī Mā. Śani is sitting in 9th house, i.e., in Guru’s natural home, worship her with Parameśvarī mantra. Oṃ Hrīṃ Śrīṃ Krīṃ Parameśvarī Kālikāyai Svāhā.
Student 13: 9th lord is Guru. Guru, Śani and Candra are in 10th house. Budha has dṛṣti on 9th house.
Guru Sanjay Rath: focus on 9th house. Budha is aspecting 9th house from 3rd house. So, friends and colleagues will help to progress in life. Speak sweetly and you won’t face any obstacle in life. So, the mantra is for Viṣṇu. What is the mantra? The mantra should be comprised of three words or three phonemes. Oṃ Viṣṇave Namah. Hare Rāma Kṛṣṇa. Generally, the latter mantra is better if Budha is in 3rd house.
Student 14: Mithuna is Lagna. Śukra and Sūrya are in 9th house. Rāhu is in 7th house. Śani is in the 12th house.
Guruji Sanjay Rath: Śukra in the 9th house, means Bhāgya will open up after marriage. We are not yet discussing dvi-Graha yoga, that we will have to do subsequently. Sūrya in the 9th house brings father’s blessings. Rāhu and Ketu are rājayoga in the horoscope. Rāhu is not bad in your horoscope. The aspect of Śani is on its own sign, but it is not good for the Bhāgya. Start doing the fasting on Sundays. Why did I tell her to do fasting on Sundays? Because the Upapada is in Leo and the lord of Upapada is also in the 9th house. The marriage will be the turning point in Bhāgya. Lord of Upapada is in 9th along with Śukra. Start fasting on Sunday.
Student 15: Mithuna Lagna. Jupiter, Saturn and Mars are in 3rd house.
Guruji Sanjay Rath: the dṛṣti of Maṅgala on the 9th house is not at all good. Jupiter’s aspect is good. We are not worried about Jupiter’s aspect because that is good. Maṅgala and Śani are bad because they have tamas dṛṣti which is very bad on the 9th house. So, they can ruin the Bhāgya. For pacification of Śani, do a mantra of Kālī Mā. And for Maṅgala, do a mantra for Śiva. But when you worship Kālī Mā, Śiva will take the form of Mahākāla. Generally, the results of beneficial or malefic aspect come in the Daśā, or when the natural age of that Graha, comes. For Guru, do something related to Guru, it will be good for you. Eat something sweet before leaving home for the work, and the job will be easily done. You have to wear some gold in right hand, definitely. Some gold ring, or gold kadā, or some gold in right hand, will be very good for you, that will control the negative effects of Śani etc., also. A simple ring of gold, even without gemstone of Bṛhaspati, will be auspicious for you. In Ujjain, there is a temple of Jyotirlinga, called Mahākāleśvara. The mantra pertaining to that, is
Oṃ Namaḥ Śivāya Mahakāleśvarāya Hūm Hūm Saḥ
This is the best mantra for Mahākāla. Listen! Veda is steadily eclipsed because of Śani. This form of Śiva lifts the Veda in its original glory, because time cannot perish “that” which is protected by Mahākāla. Mahākāla is the true protector of Vedas. You go there in Ujjain, and you will get your blessings from there. Veda is knowledge. The whole Veda has not come down into the world; it is already on the incline. For example, five years back, it was hard to find vegetarian food in America. But today there is no problem. Read about Mahākāla from Śiva Mahāpurāṇa, and other comparable texts. (Students are asking questions about why it is said that Hanumān is remedy for both Maṅgala as well as Śani, now, Guruji is answering:). First, Hanumān is Vāyu-putra (offspring of Vāyu Deva), and is also incarnation of Rudra, hence, Śiva. Hanumān Ji gives strength to win a war, why, because there is no Rudra incarnation like that of himself. Secondly, life and death are linked with breathing, i.e., prāṇa. When Rāma has threat of losing prāṇa, it was Hanumān who saved his life by bringing Garuda. He could do that because he is son of Vāyu. When you worship Hanumān on Saturdays, worship him with Vāyu-putra-mantra. While, when you worship him on Tuesdays, worship him in his Rāmadūta (agent of Rāma) form. So, use correct mantra for appropriate day. He could fly because he was son of Vāyu. Breathing comes from Vāyu because Prāṇa (oxygen) comes from Vāyu.
Before moving on to next topic of sapta-loka, let’s do the charts of remaining students.
Student 16: Rāhu is in 9th house. Guru is in 3rd house. Ketu and Sūrya are also in 3rd house. Mercury is also in 3rd house.
Guru Sanjay Rath: let’s talk about 9th house. Rāhu is sitting in 9th house, hence, mantra should be done for a Guru-form. Guru is sitting in 3rd house to handle that Rāhu. When you go to a Guru, you will easily get the remedy. Normally astrologers believe Guru is not good in 3rd house. But that is not so. Look at his Bhāgya: he needed a laptop, and an older student of mine left a laptop with me because he was going to America; I gave that laptop to him. Look! How easily he got it. That older student didn’t take money from me, so, I gave it without taking money. He got the laptop without even trying for it. So, is Guru bad or good in the 3rd house? Guru is very auspicious in 3rd house. Is Sūrya good or bad in 3rd house? It is good. Why is it good? Because it is sattva guṇa. When we talk about the Bhāgya, we talk about guṇa (sattva, rajas, tamas). Sūrya is sattva Graha, its effect on the 9th house is very auspicious. For dharma, Sūrya is not inauspicious. It is krūra, not pāpa. For example, some people are strict in their words, but there is good in their heart. Mercury is also not bad. Your friends have always helped you. Only bad thing in your Bhāgya is Rāhu. Do a mantra for a Guru-rūpa. Guru is with Sūrya, so the form is Śiva form, i.e., Dakṣiṇāmūrti. When you start mantra for Dakṣiṇāmūrti, you will have good luck and get everything without obstacles. Beautiful mantra: Oṃ Dakṣiṇāmūrtir Ataroṃ. Do you know this mantra? Do one task. Make a list of all the mantras for Dakṣiṇāmūrti. And then, do calculations to find, which of the mantras is the best in your case. Do it after the class.
Student 17: Vṛṣabha is Lagna, Śani is in 9th house. Born in 1963.
Guruji asked: Is this Śani good or bad?
Student answered: Although it gives everything slowly, but Śani is good because its in own house.
Guruji Sanjay Rath: See! Śani is in 9th house. You are saying that it will be slow but it will give good effects. But I say, when it will give you lottery of good luck? After your death? When it will give? These are all false hopes. So, no benefit from Śani. What did I say about Śani in 9th house? Shakti. Check Moon. Moon is in the 5th house with Sūrya. So, what is the Tithi? Is it Pratipadā or Amāvasyā? Caturdaśī. A rūpa of Mātā, is Mātaṅgī. Read about that. And also read about parrot. Is it not incredible that it can speak like humans? It also has a long life. But I won’t tell where to read it, because you have Śani in 9th house, you have to work for it. (a student links parrot with the Amaranātha story, how parrot listened to whole story, and Guruji says:). That’s why parrot has a long life. Śiva’s blessings are onto him. He took Śiva’s knowledge. when you want to learn a Śāstra, first you have to keep imitating Guru’s discourse by repeating it continuously and it becomes a mantra. When it becomes a mantra, it gets digested. So, Mātaṅgī is very important for you.
Scribe’s notes: Mātaṅgī is one of the Daśa Mahāvidyā. And this form is linked to Sun. That’s why, when Candra was sitting with Sūrya, Guruji chose that particular form to remedy the Śani of 9th house. However, if the Tithi were Amāvasyā, he may have told Kālī Mā worship to be done as remedy because Mā Kālī is worshipped on Amāvasyā (new Moon), particularly in Bengal’s tradition. That will not be contrary to the fact that form should be chosen based on Graha yuti with Candra because the yoga of Candra and Sūrya, is itself called the Amāvasyā yoga.
Student 18: Tula is Lagna. Mithuna is in the 9th house and has Maṅgala, aspected by Mercury from 3rd house.
Guru Sanjay Rath: Maṅgala is 3rd class planet. Mercury is super planet for you. Maṅgala is in 9th house, that means you have to worship Śiva to get out of this bad influence of Maṅgala and tamas in 9th house. What will be form of Śiva? What is the form of Rudra which has strong association with Viṣṇu? That is Hanuman. Haṃ Rudrāya Hanumate Namaḥ. This is the mantra.
Student 19 (Sarbani Rath): Mīna Lagna, there are no planets in 9th house. Moon, Mercury and Mars are in 3rd house. Rāhu is in 5th house. Hence, Rāhu, Maṅgala, Candra and Budha are aspecting 9th house.
Guru Sanjay Rath: Is Rāhu’s aspect on the 9th house good or bad? Is it good? Who said it is good? It is bad. Do a Guru mantra for this. Guru is alone, the day she gets a Bṛhaspati mantra, Rāhu’s effect will be diminished. While Bṛhaspati is alone, do Bṛhaspati Gāyatrī. (a female student is saying that the Graha in 12th house brings losses and hence, Bṛhaspati will cause losses. Guruji replies and says:) People have made a joke of 12th house in Jyotiṣa. 12th house is the house of sleep, the day when you lose your sleep, you will realise its importance. 12th house is the mother’s lap. Don’t blame 12th house. Don’t blame your mother’s lap. The women having pāpa Grahas in the 12th house, can’t become a mother. No pāpa Graha is good in 12th house, gives tensions in marriage. To fully understand the 12th house, read the book called “Bhāvārtha Ratnākara”. Mars is aspecting the 9th house, is it good or bad? (Student says that Mars is aspecting its own house, so it’s good. Guruji replies): just now we were talking about Saturn aspecting its own house. In that case, Śani was aspecting its own house, even then it was bad. Then how can it change for you? Is Maṅgala good? No. Maṅgala’s aspect on the 9th house is indicating that you have struggles and fights in your luck. If you get anything in life, you get it only after a lot of struggle. It is worse. Candra is in 3rd, aspecting the 9th, and that too is exalted. Budha is also in 3rd house, relatives and friends will always help. Drink water and strengthen Moon. Wear a pearl (to strengthen Moon). Unconsciously, she wears a lot of pearls and emeralds. When she was born, she got a lot of emeralds and pearls. See, everything has Bhāgya. Maṅgala-dṛṣti is not good. Worship Śiva, and all of these struggles that you have faced in your life, will be gone. You won’t have to struggle. So, her luck is coming from Candra-dṛṣti and Budha-dṛṣti. But she has to do two mantras: one mantra for a Guru-form to cut Rāhu’s tāmasic influence on 9th house, and secondly, a Śiva-mantra to cut the tāmasic influence of Maṅgala on 9th house. So, do the Śiva mantra during the day, and Bṛhaspati Gāyatrī at night. These two are crucial for you.
Scribe’s note: google the book “Bhāvārtha Ratnākara”. And you will get the pdf. Study 12th house from it.
Now the most important thing. We consider Maṅgala, Śani, Rāhu, and Ketu bad for the 9th house. We know that influence of Budha and Śukra on 9th house, is good for worldly pleasure, while Guru, Candra and Sūrya are best for the 9th house. We also studied that planets having dṛṣti on 9th house from the 3rd house, are considered to be good or bad by following the same method. Why did we do it? Because 9th house is the house of dharma. Sattva is best for dharma. Rajas is okay-okay for dharma. But tamas has no place in dharma. Can you try the same for Lagna? First tell me, what is the guṇa for Lagna? Lagna is self and can have all the three i.e., sattva, rajas and tamas. Therefore, the scheme that we have applied on the 9th house, we cannot do that for Lagna. For example, if Lagna is that of Makara, then Śani is good there. Therefore, method to judge the effect on different planets on the Lagna, is different from that of the 9th house. 9th house is temple, sattva is best there. Because the 9th house is Dhanu and Dhanu is temple. Therefore, it is your homework, that you tell me the dominating guṇa for every house. The dominating guṇa for the Lagna, is rajas. Likewise, you have to find the chief guṇa for every house. The class has picked up now. The speed will increase in next class. Your hand will ache from taking so many notes. I will be giving dictums.
