Budha and Daśāṃśa

Budha and Daśāṃśa

The Daśāṃśa, or D10, is one of the most important Vargas for understanding a person’s professional life. It reveals not merely a job title, but the manner in which an individual performs Karma in society. It shows professional conduct, responsibility, recognition, authority, skill, and the ability to transform knowledge into useful work.

Daśāṃśa is the Varga which connects to the 10th bhāva of the Rāśi chart. Budha is the Kāraka of the 10th bhāva – the hand of God and it rules money.

In Daśāṃśa we are interested in several factors:

  • Sūrya who gives the wealth. Day time is a time when you go and work, when you are active and get energy to earn money.
  • Candra who is the path (society)
  • Guru which is the Kāraka for wealth
  • Budha who is the Karma for wealth

What do we understand by that? Budha is signifying constant learning. You never stop learning. You never stop getting new information and skill. Whichever field you take for your work, you will need to learn how to succeed in what you do, how to do the work and you will need knowledge for that.

So, what is the interest of Budha in work? Primaraly, it is a rājasika planet, so it must be interested in the goodies of that world, in other words Budha is interested in money.

Daśāṃśa is showing the directions of life as well, so we should understand that Digpāla of the planet. What does Digpāla give? it may give an area of life to work and knowledge as the direction for the intelligence. Digpālas are the Devatās of the Daśāṃśa so they all have a strong bearing on profession. All of them are the makers and breakers of the prodession.

Budha gets digbala in the 1st bhāva. it’s lwarning, assimilation adn knowledge.  It shows where do we put our money and time. So now, we got two important bhavas for Me: 1st and 10th. 10th is mostly converting knowledge into wealth.

Also Me acchadana dristi is in the 1st bhava. It’s about vaccha – speech.  Me rules prithvi tattva and it gives physical body, skin, looks. Me is the speech and speech usually show the education of teh person. Learning gives wealth and means to earn wealth. Your speech shows your class and comunity.

Now let us understand the difference between Rashi chart and Dashamsha. Rashi is always you and Vargas are outside world and your interaction with the outside world. So Daśāṃśa is your interaction with the world at work. Rashi chart is always a motive – why is something happening. In other words, Rashi is always your talk to yourself and Vargas is your conversation with the world. So Rashi is objective (what to do?) to fulfill Daśāṃśa direction (how to do?)

Let’s try to examine that on the examples. We shall start from the wealthiest Ambani family.

Dhirubhai Ambani

In Rāśi chart we see that Budha is in Vṛścika with Śukra and it’s in 12th bhāva. For Dhanu Lagna Budha is bādhaka 7th L and 10th L – business, so we shall say that person will get money through 12th bhāva – some kind of international things. Śukra can show beautiful things. Initially, he imported polyester yarn and exported Indian goods. He transitioned from trading to fabric manufacturing and developed the Vimal textile brand. Śukra is dispositor of Śani in own sign. So some products of pertol. Śani is 2d l in 2d bhāva and it’s in 5th from Guru getting its dṛṣṭi, so by this blessing of the Guru he got his wealth from Śani(result from Śukra+Budha)

Interesting: both dispositors of Budha are in Budha 10th bhāva, so you will utilize money into petrochemical sector (Ketu) and heavy industry (Maṅgala AK is king among industrialists)

In Daśāṃśa: Budha is 10th L of the Rāśi chart in digbala in Lagna with Ketu. Will we say 1st house is fame and name? This Budha is 5th L of Daśāṃśa in Lagna – Rājayoga. 5th is shares, some manipilations with Budha – finance, we usually use the word “speculation” for 5th bhāva. Ketu – some headless things, some transforming thing (Budha+Ketu=breakage of bones or transformation),something nobody did before.

He was the first man to bring stocks to an ordinary man in India with huge public issues. Now you see how 10 th L of the Rāśi chart in digbala Daśāṃśa makes one a leader. Why? These are the people who put the way for the others, they are true leaders. Now see the subtle difference with the Rāśi chart: in Rāśi chart 2d Lord Śani means petrol. In Daśāṃśa Śani means poor people, this Śani – workers, servants, ordinary people. In 1977, Reliance conducted an initial public offering. Ambani actively raised funds from a large number of private investors, which was unusual for India at that time.

D10 Budha 10th house: wealth is Vṛścika. One Lord is Ketu with digbalī Budha, another Lord AK Maṅgala in own sign+Sūrya exalted. 4th house is your office. AK Maṅgala you have your big-big industrial offices +7th L Sūrya-business. Again Śani is anitya of Maṅgala. This is how you transform to get money.

Under his leadership, Reliance established plants for the production of polyester fibre and petrochemical products; this later laid the foundation for the company’s further expansion into oil refining.

It’s an interesting case as both in D1 and in D10 Budha is placed in digbala.

In Rāśi chart Budha is in Mithuna own rāśi. It’s Lagna Lord in Lagna, so we can say the person will gain fame and name and all will know his looks (Budha ācchādana) and fame will be also related to his body. Budha being extremely strong is also in Kendra which forms Bhadra Yoga and will result in huge ammount of money on his bank account.

An interesting feature of Budha as a Graha is it’s flexibility. When it conjoins other planets it will take their character and habits. If Budha is conjoined bad guys, he may become bad. So here we seak about the ability of changing your own way of acting. That’s why this Graha represnts actors and dancers.

10th from Budha is ruled by Guru and Ketu in tattva. Guru is 7th and 10th L in the 5th he will utilize the money into business. And Budha itself is in the 9th bhāva from Guru. So what are you busy with? Acting and body all the time.

D10: Daśāṃśa adds to that. We again saw this Budha is in digbala but to that we add Rāhu. That is why he will go into politics also and will become CA Government.

Lata Mangeshkar

She was an Indian playback singer and occasional music composer. She is considered to be one of the greatest and most influential singers of the Indian subcontinent. Her contribution to the Indian music industry in a career spanning eight decades gained her honorific titles such as the “Queen of Melody” and “Voice of the Millennium”.

She appeared in the Guinness World Records as the most recorded artist in history before being replaced by her sister, Asha Bhosle.

Me is with Ma 12th L and 7th L in 6th and Ke 11th L in Tula. Known for her remarkable discipline (Ma), Mangeshkar always recorded barefoot as a sign of respect for the studio, which she regarded as a sacred space. Despite her perfectionism, she rarely listened to her songs after they were released, explaining in interviews that she would only notice flaws in her own singing. Ke is in Vishakha nakshatra ruled by Ju who is in Lagna. Bringing her fame due to her rare talent. Being in Shukra’s sign it corresponds to performing and acting job (6 th h). Ma 7th L in 6th played a double role where all her energy was sent into profession and she could not create a family. Ve as Lagna Lord  in the 4th made her extremely charming personality. Here Ve is in digbala bringing the blessings  of  Agni vision, refinement, devotion to work, and the ability to transform creative inspiration into something valuable for society.
Mangeshkar recorded songs in over thirty-six Indian languages and a few foreign languages. Me 10th bhava is Mo in own sign putting drishti on Ju in Ta in Lagna (Ishana yoga). Her talent to singing given by Lord Shiva she utilised to become her wealth.

D10:  Me is again with Mangal in uttama dashamsha (means same sign as in Rashi chart) in 2d bhava (artha trikona). It’s LL in the 2d bhava which means that the wealth is self-earned due to this blessing of Uttama Me in Tula. This Ma for a singer, this is not merely artistic inspiration. It indicates the technical work behind the voice: controlling pronunciation, rhythm, breathing, timing and modulation. Neing 3d lord in the 2d bhava Ma  indicates a very serious discipline and work requiered, not an easy path at all. In other words her professional success came not only from a beautiful voice but also from extraordinary practice, technical precision, adaptability and the determination to defend the value of her work.  There is a  parivartana of  Ve and Ma which indicates the change of the name which will bring her fame. Lata was named “Hema” at her birth. Her parents later renamed her after a female character, Latika, in one of her father’s plays. Her name means: a small or delicate creeper/vine; a slender winding tendril; poetically, a graceful, slender female figure;in some literary contexts, a string of pearls. She interpreted the works of many celebrated poets and lyricists, although she occasionally composed the music herself under the name Ānandghan.

10th from Me will be ruled by Mo again- so you have to sing to transform and to get this success that is coming from Dashamsha. Mo is with Ju in 12th bhava of Dashamsha, so you will do it till your death.

These examples show that Budha in the Daśāṃśa does not merely describe intelligence. It reveals how knowledge, speech, skill, adaptability, and constant learning are converted into professional activity and wealth.
