First tell me that what do you understand about the 5th house. It is said to be Mantra bhāva, Putra bhāva, etc. First of all is the Time concept. Always understand Time as the first thing in Jyotish. If you understand time, you will understand Jyotish. One who does not understand Kāla, will never understand Jyotish, I am very clear on this.
Sūrya defines time. Trikoṇa bhāva, are three and if you divide the 24 hours by 3, you will get three slots of 8 hours each. So, there is a span of 8 hours between 1st, 5th and 9th house. In Kṛta Yuga or Satya Yuga, everything related to time was calculated starting from sunrise. Okay? It’s approximately 6 o’clock. 8 hours from 6 am, is 2 pm. 8 hours from 2 pm is 10 pm. 2 pm is mantra bhāva or 5th house. 10 pm is the 9th house. 6 am is Lagna. Now you are in Kālī Yuga, and in this Yuga, and midnight or the 10th house is much powerful in Kālī Yuga, So, start from 12 midnight, and adding 8 hours to that, you get 8 am. Add 8 hours to 8 am, you get 4 pm in the afternoon. In today’s world, if you see the energy cycle of humans today, it is this cycle. He is ready and energetic to work from 8 am to 4 pm. The cycle has changed from Kṛtayuga. Earlier, the resting Time was from 10 pm to 6 am, and now it is from 12 midnight to 8 am.
The king used to be ready for Pūjā at the Jagannātha temple at 6 am in the morning. At 2 pm they used to wind up their work, and freshen up at home, wear good clothes, and in evening came to enjoy see dance theater etc, and by 10 pm they used to sleep. This was the normal cycle. The whole cycle has shifted in such a way that now we are focusing totally on midnight. Spirituality’s target is to shift back this cycle to what it was in Kṛta Yuga. Unless you understand the cycle, you cannot bring yourself back. If you try to wake up at 4am, but you are sleeping at 12 pm, this is impossible. You cannot sustain it, it is non-sustainable. So the important thing when you think about 5th house, is, planning. Planning comes in 5th house. Lagna is the present. 5th house is the Future, 9th house is the past. Likewise, if Lagna is me myself, then 5th house is the children and 9th house is the forefathers. Lagna is today and present time. 9th house is also 5th to 5th, so, 9th house is grandchildren. So, an old man is seeing his grandchildren and his forefathers in 9th house and thinking will my grandchildren will be like my forefathers? He is comparing the 9th house with the 9th house and thinking that his tradition will go on if grandchildren in 9th house follow his forefathers of 9th house.
So, 5th house is the most important house and is crucial, it is the tomorrow, and tomorrow never comes. It is the biggest truth. Like you are thinking about the past, and regrets what you could have done or should have done, but it is gone. Likewise, 5th house is the tomorrow which never comes. 5th house is projection. For example, you project every day that you will sleep and wake tomorrow on the same bed from which you woke up yesterday. This is called projection. And 5th house is projection. If you are going to change your future then you will change this projection in 5th house, and that is called planning. So, 5th house are two things:
- Projection
- Planning
It is the most crucial house. You will become what you project and plan. It is your future. So, 5th lord is even more auspicious than Lagneśa. Because Lagneśa is the present, and nobody is content with the present. We always talk of future, be it development, or anything else. But we are always projecting in future.
You are developing your financial resources, your knowledge base, you learning, what you project as better life. And what you want, that is what you plan for. My father told something beautiful to my brother when he was a kid. My brother always wanted good cars. So, my father said: “See, my son, I can’t buy these expensive cars for you. If you want such a car, do one thing, look at the photo and think that you are sitting inside that car. And you will see one day, you will really own it, and be sitting in that car”. And the same thing happened. Among our three brothers, he is the only one who had put a big poster of a Mercedes car, and one big poster of a sports car, and 3 to 4 more photos of expensive cars he had stuck to the walls, and three to four photos of aircrafts. He used to sit and look at them for hours and hours. He was obsessed about those cars and aircrafts. Today, he has the Mercedes, and he has three to four more cars. That is called projection of the 5th house. The thing that you want, puts its picture in your room walls, and project yourself in it, and when you will project, it will come in your planning. How will it come into your planning if you don’t project it? If you sit and just start thinking, nothing will happen. This visualization projection techniques were highly valued by Sages. That is why every mantra comes with a dhyāna. Every mantra will have dhyāna for sure. Without dhyāna, mantra will not fructify because you don’t have that picture inside your head. There are two Gurus:
- Bṛhaspati , Sage or Ṛṣi
- Śukra , Dhyāna, Visualisation or Projection
Don’t do mantra without dhyāna, projection, for materialistic things in life, it will not fructify. If you want wealth, you have to do dhyāna of the deity of wealth. Bhagavān is associated with 5th house, not the Lagna. Because you expect to meet God after death, not right now.
Mantreśa, is the 5th lord. Mantra is that gati which gets you to the 9th house. 9th house is 5th from 5th and this concept of being 5th to 5th, is called bhāvat bhāvam. You cannot reach the 9th house, without first stepping into 5th house. Without mantra, you cannot reach 9th house. So, 5th house is the house of citra (picture) inside the Mind. That citra decides your future, and it is the most crucial house in a horoscope. It can make and destroy a horoscope. It can destroy a person completely.
Take example of Rāvaṇa. Rāvaṇa was the son of Ṛṣi Kaśyapa, Kaśyapa ṛṣi is considered to be even greater than Sūrya, he is such a big Ṛṣi. He had huge sea of knowledge inside him naturally, he was the son of a ṛṣi. So, with that knowledge, what did he project in his 5th house? He projected of building a golden city, he did it, and then he won over all Devas. He projected of having the most powerful son, he got it. He projected of having the most ideal wife, he got it. Mandodarī, is reckoned as one of the most perfect ladies. But the picture that he had in his 5th house that he wanted Sītā as his wife, that became the reason of his ruin. That is why 5th house is crucial and should contain only those things which don’t violate 9th house. Because 5th to 5th, is the 9th house. If your mantra bhāva violates your 9th house, then that mantra will break and will destroy your future.
Not even a single projection of the 5th house should be against the 9th house, because that can destroy your future. That’s why you should see 5th house and 9th house together and analyse them together. Rāvaṇa put a projection in his 5th house, which violated his 9th house, i.e., dharma. But Rāma didn’t do that. That is the difference between planning and projection of Rāma and Rāvaṇa because it is about tomorrow and tomorrow never comes. And the important thing about Mukti is that it destroys the 5th house, it destroys the projection and planning of tomorrow.
So, Mukti is actually the liberation from projections and plannings of tomorrow. That is why 12th house is the house of Mukti and is the 8th from 5th house. 8th house is the debts, so, 8th from 5th is 12th house and thus, this house destroys the debts of 5th house. What is Mukti? Jīvanmukta is a word explaining this. This is described in a beautiful book called the Jīvanmukta Gita, and this also tells us how you can get free in this body and the same concept is also mentioned in Śrīmad Bhāgavatam by Śrī Kṛṣṇa where he has used the word Avadhūta Brāhmaṇa. Who is the Avadhūta Brāhmaṇa? Dattātreya is the Avadhūta Brāhmaṇa. Dattātreya was free from the 5th house, he was free from projections and planning of 5th house. As long as you are stuck in the tomorrow you will keep running towards future, and you will keep chasing and the chase will never end. Who is free from this, is Jīvanmukta, and this is the relation between 5th house and 12th house.
When we talk about 5th house, we talked about mantra and projections. But Mantra is for manas or the mind. The seat of mind is in 4th house, It is the conscious mind, and consciousness means awareness. You are aware about different things throughout the day, being constantly conscious about the present. The knowledge about present, comes from 4th house, and that’s why happiness and sorrow come from 4th house. Then why is the 5th house the mantra bhāva, this is the question. See, sustenance of every bhāva comes from the 2nd house from itself. 2nd house from any house is like the food for that house, like food is necessary for body, likewise it sustains. That is why 5th house is called Mana. Mantra is Mana + Trayi, it protects the mind. “Trayate” means to protect. So, that is why mantra is in 2nd house from 4th house, i.e., the 5th house which talks about tomorrow. It means that when the lords of these two houses are in harmony, then the present time of that person and the future planning and projection, run in perfect harmony. This yoga is called the Viṣṇu Yoga. This person knows in present, what he is going to do tomorrow. Because 5th house is tomorrow, or the future, bhaviṣya, that is why predictive ability is from the 5th house. You can’t really predict when your 5th house is weak.
This is the reason, Prashna Mārga says that first thing in Jyotish you should do, is to receive Mantra Dīkṣā from Guru. Predictive Jyotish can’t be done without Guru Mantra. 5th house should be healthy. 4th bhāva helps you to study something. So, 4th house can help you study Jyotish, but if 5th house is not sustaining it, your predictions will not be correct. There are great Paṇḍits in Jyotish, because Jupiter exalts in 4th house, but their predictive ability is poor. There is no graha which exalts in natural fifth house, i.e., in Siṃha. No graha can exalt in Siṃha. Think carefully. That is why mantra is indispensable for predictive ability. 5th house is the house of divine light of Sūrya, so, that is why Mantra should be given keeping 4th house in mind, and mantra should always be good for the mind, should always protect the mind. That is why 4th lord and 5th lord join together in Viṣṇu Yoga.
That is why we also have to see which is the Devatā who is indicating the mantra? Devatā or the Devī who you feel devotion for, is always in the 5th house. This deity is your future. The deity of the 9th house is also important. But you always feel that 5th house deity is your future. So, you should always be careful not to violate the 9th house, while choosing mantra from the 5th house. So, two houses should be kept in mind while choosing a mantra: 4th house and 9th house

You cannot decide a mantra without taking these factors into consideration. For example, a son is born in a Brāhmin family, and his father thought :”My son should also become modern, so, I will send my son to public school”. His grandfather had told him, “Beta (son), you should do Gāyatrī mantra daily because you are Brāhmin”. So, he is one day standing in line in the morning assembly in school and he is instructed by teachers to do prayers : “O my father thou art in heaven….”. So, he is doing that because all the students are required to do that. He comes home and thinks: “What is all this that is happening to me”. So, the little child is confused and thinking should I do Gāyatrī mantra or should I do the Catholic prayer? This is where the 5th house and the 9th house are clashing. Can you clearly see the clash? This was first noticed and pointed out in America. So, parents there took objection of it, and they went to court on it, that, “The schools have no right to infuse their religious teachings on the students”. Court upheld it: “Yes, it is wrong”. But Indian courts can’t understand the same thing. Freedom to profess one’s religion is enshrined in our constitution. Does the little child not have any freedom? Is Freedom only for the grown-up people? The little child does not have a court and does not have a place to go to. Am I being understood? See, this is clear. You and I understand this, but that child does not understand this. It’s a violation of the 9th house. So, 5th to 5th is 9th and it is being put under conflict. Be very careful with your own children. Try to explain to them that this is the 9th house in which God has decided you to be born. Do not fight with your 9th house. You will ruin your 9th house. So, give mantra always keeping in mind the 9th house.
So, 1st rule:Check 9th house it is 5th to 5th. You have clearly understood it now.
2nd from the 4th is 5th. That is also understood by you now. We have discussed it.That is why when I read someone’s chart, I ask, “Please tell me your religion or faith”. This is a very important question that I ask in my readings.
First of all if someone is a non-believer, I deny to see their horoscope. Then, if they do believe in God, then I ask their religious belief. The religious belief is a path, it makes you walk on a path. I am not a spiritual teacher, I will not tell you to follow this path or to follow that path. Whatever path you want to follow, I will help you in that. I am very clear in this. If someone is Christian, I ask them to follow Jesus, and if someone is Buddhist, I ask them to follow Buddha. I do not play with the 9th house. Please keep it in mind, as a good Jyotishi, do not play with the 9th house. You have to decide whether you are going to be a Jyotishi or a spiritual teacher. If you are Jyotishi, then your job is in 5th house. If you are a spiritual teacher, your job is in 9th house. So, you have to decide it now, whether you are Guru of 5th house or a Guru of the 9th house. When somebody ask me: “What is this Jyotishi Guru title that you have started using, this new drama that you have started”. I explained to him, this is the difference. I do not change the 9th house because I am not given that responsibility by my Master, so, I will not do it. Why should I advise someone to become Hindu? So, the mantra choice from the 5th house must be based on the 9th house and should not violate the 9th house. If somebody has a strong Rāhu in the 9th house, then you will observe, that he will have a tendency to take the mantra of the foreign religions of foreign things. Those who have Jupiter strong in the 9th house, will have tendency to follow their own religion.
Now come to 4th house. If somebody has Śani in 4th house, and Maṅgala in 5th house, and he is told by someone that he should do the Hanuman Mantra. And he started doing a very powerful Hanuman Mantra. A disturbance started in his home, there was havoc in his house 24 times, he could not understand what is going on. Then he came to me. I told him to stop the Hanuman Mantra that he was doing. Fundamentally, he had clash between his 4th house and his 5th house in his kuṇḍalī. So, the mantra he was doing was not right for him. Don’t give mantra blindly, you have to see 4th house and 5th house. This mana (mind) and the projection are in 4th house and 5th house respectively. So, when you are doing a mantra which is conflicting with the 4th house, what it does that it creates conflict or clash between your mind and the projection of the mind, so, it will not work because both have to be in harmony for the projection-planning to succeed. And a wrong mantra can cause madness in a person. A wrong mantra is very bad for the mind and is the biggest enemy of the mind. You should know that. But if you get the right mantra, then it will be your best friend.
Basically, God should sit in your Mana (mind), but when an inappropriate mantra goes there, it has the opposite effect. Mantra should be such that it should make the mind very happy. A good a mantra will have a very good effect on the mind, will keep you in happiness, you will laugh, you will smile, and you will constantly be very happy. That is what happens when the mantra chosen from the 5th house is in harmony with the 4th house. Mantra = Mana + Trayi. Mana is mind. Trayate means to protect, so, 5th house should protect the 4th house and should not violate the 4th house. Mantra sustains the 4th house. Because depressed people generally have issues in their 4th house, or suicidal tendencies come when there are afflictions to 4th house. And the Lord of daśā must be having some problems with the 4th house, if you are feeling sorrowful and depressed. Study the 4th house.
Now, next:
While Mantra Śāstra is studied such things are said: “if you want wealth, then, worship Kubera”. “If you want all kinds of prosperity, worship Lakṣmī Mā”. This “want, wanting that, wanting this”, what do we understand by this? This “want” is a projection that your Mind, is projecting in the 5th house because 5th house is the food for 4th house. Projection must have planning and action. Planning is in the 5th house, and then you start doing the action accordingly.
First action will always be mantra, and then other actions will come. How to put it in mantra, means you have to put that picture in your mind. Like how my brother had pasted the poster of a Car on the walls of his room. Like we repeat the mantra Om Namaḥ Śivāya in your mind, he repeated the image of that car in his mind. And that is why he has Mercedes today. I did not do that and thought he was an idiot, that is why I do not have Mercedes Car today. Whatever he believed or did, I always disagreed with him and I used to wonder why and how did he became my brother because we had so many differences. Because we were totally poles apart. You must understand how the mind works. The mind works with Images. Two things work very strongly on the mind:
Picture = Kāraka Śukra
Words = Kāraka Jupiter
Now come to Guru. Work of Guru is to guide you. There are two types of Gurus: Jupiter who guides through words. Śukra who guides through pictures. Who has Śukra in 5th house, it is very nice for that person. Why? Because Śukra guides him through pictures in the mind. Those who have Guru in the 5th house, he is constantly guided by Bṛhaspati through words. Two graha are considered very awesome in 5th house, Bṛhaspati and Śukra,
Student: 5th house is Citta
Guruji: that is what I was teaching you right now. 5th house is mana-trayi, and Citta is your working intelligence. When intelligence starts working, then, it is citta. When you sleep, your citta is not working, but the intelligence is still there. Like when you doing daily chores, or day-to-day activities like reading newspaper, your mana starts working, and it starts working on Citta. This Citta is in 5th house. So, citta can work only if consciousness is present. Intelligence will work on what if does not have a knowledge base.
You do one thing, take a flight to Russia, and go there. Read the morning newspaper which would be in Russian language, you won’t be able to understand the Russian alphabets because that language was taught to you in your 4th house. Your 4th house has your native language (Argala of 2nd house). So, Citta has to have a knowledge base, and this knowledge base comes from the 4th house. So, Mana is in 4th house and projections work on the mind, and these projections and planning are from the 5th house. So, 5th house should never conflict with the 4th house.
Someone has sent me some study material from Russia, but that was in Russian language, and I could not even find my own name in that because I don’t know the Russian language. You see my problem? My Citta has problem reading Russian, because that language is not in the knowledge base of my 4th house. This knowledge base of 4th house is used in the 5th house. 4th house is consciousness and that is why it is very important because you are conscious of who you are, and you are conscious of your identity. So, I am giving you a warning, 5th house should not clash with the 4th house. Do not give a mantra which is going to damage the 4th house, which the 4th house doesn’t like. Such a mantra can cause a a lot of sorrow. So he should not have been given Hanuman mantra in that case. In such cases where there is a graha sitting in the 4th house, which is inimical to the graha in 5th house, you have to take the 4th lord vis-a-vis the graha in 5th house; because this will still create harmony between 5th and 4th house.
So, now we come to the part of this Śāstra to know what are the devatās which are associated with the planets according to Parāśara Muni. Parāśara has said the following:
Agni for Sūrya. I am very careful with words of Parāśara Muni because the secret is in the words. There is a lot of difference between Agni and Śiva, as presiding deity for Sūrya. Agni starts with “a”, Śiva starts with the syllable “Ś”. So, let’s first note down what Parāśara Muni has said. Then later we will do our own discussion.
Jala for Candra
Skanda for Maṅgala
Viṣṇu for Budha
Indra for Guru
Śacī for Śukra
Brahma for Śani. Actually there are debates on these names, because we do not have the most authentic version. Some say it is Brahma and not Brahmā for Śani, because Parāśara Muni cannot use the word Brahmā. Basically Parāśara was a great Śiva worshipper. So, it is not possible that Parāśara would have said “Brahmā”. That argument is very sustainable. So, therefore, I prefer Brahma for Śani and not Brahmā. We will see in some cases how it works. We will see. Parāśara has not said anything for Rāhu and Ketu. Not directly, but when you come to volume II of Parāśara, and in the chapters on daśā and antardaśā, you will observe that he has recommended Durgā as a deity for Candra. But, not as a Devatā for graha, that was only for Daśā and Antardaśā. And once in that, he has recommended Śiva Sahasranāma for Jupiter. And wherever there was any discussion on 7th house and 7th lord, he has undoubtedly recommended Mṛtyuñjaya mantra. He is so consistent in that. He has recommended Durgā for Śukra also. So, this is Parāśara muni’s teachings.
Gaṇeśa for Ketu. There is no doubt in that. Vedamūrti and Gaṇeśa.
So, first of all we have check which graha is sitting in the 5th house. The person will like to worship the Devī or Devatā related to the graha sitting in the 5th house. That is the natural thing for that person. The person who has Sūrya in 5th house, worships Sūrya and will love Gāyatrī mantra so much. And that is the nature of the person. You will see when a person has Sūrya is in the 5th house, will not worship Śiva, but will love to worship Sūrya. He will like Sūrya very much. He will like Rāma very much. Because the word Rāma starts with Ra which is the Bīja of Agni. And Parāśara has also used the syllable “Ra” for Sūrya and that could be Rāma also. I have observed that if you follow Parāśara blindly, you will very accurate results. And similarly for Candra, Parāśara Muni has used the syllable “Va”, Va can indicates Jala from the Bīja mantra Vaṃ, or it can denote Vamadeva. For Maṅgala, Parāśara has used the word “Skanda”, it normally mean Kārttikeya, but if you think deeply there is a difference between Kārttikeya and Skanda, Skanda means who defends and protects. Any kind of protection, you are feeling protected, protection for Lagna and future. So, when Maṅgala is in 5th, you have to see 1st house, 4th house and 5th house to know which of them needs protection, and then give the mantra. When this person gains protection indicated by Maṅgala, he will stop fighting because there is no need to fight if you are protected. So, if your present is protected and your future is also protected, then there is no urgency to fight.
If Budha is sitting in the 5th house, then the person worships Viṣṇu and talks about Karma Yoga, and his citta is focussed on karma all the time. That person is always thinking about financial security, and the entire mercurial thing, money and finance. He is the kāraka of the 10th house, Maṅgala is kāraka of 10th house, So, this person feels very protected by worship of Viṣṇu and his future is secure.
If Guru is in 5th house, the deity is Indra, and this word Indra, should be understood very carefully. Indra means King. Now, the question is, what is the thing that this person gives highest value to, and who does he consider as King. So, he will worship that only. Am I understood? The house indicating King, is Lagna. It means you have to check Lagna if Guru is in 5th house. 10th house indicates king. So, both 1st and 10th house indicate King and they should be checked if Guru is in 5th house. Siṃhāsana Yoga is formed by 10th house and Lagna. Siṃhāsana Yoga is 10th lord in Lagna or 10th lord in 2nd house. The king sits on the Throne, and Guru will respect Siṃhāsana i.e. 1st and 10th house. So, from these houses, you have to decide, who is the King.
What do you understand from the word Śacī?
Student: Indra’s wife
Guruji: You have to get out of this husband-wife concept, because here it is different thing. Because these are individual Devī devatā.
Student: She is shakti of Indra
Guruji: That means it is that which is causing the King to sit on the Throne. So, if Śukra is in 5th house, you will not worship the king, but the one who is the kingmaker. This is the Source of Power. The source of the fulfillment of all the desires. The correct name for this is Lakṣmī Mā. That source is Lakṣmī Mā. If you have money, you have everything. You can buy many things, so, Lakṣmī Mā is the source. But now understand the word Śacī very carefully. It is possible that a sage can have Venus in 5th house so, then you should not advise him to worship Lakṣmī Mā. So, understand Parāśara, he is the only perfect one, all other have extended, even Jaimini has extended. Jaimini has said that Lakṣmī Mā is the deity for Śukra. But it is not correct, in the horoscope of a sage, it is not Lakṣmī Mā, it can be Śrī instead of Lakṣmī Mā. You have to think whom you are advising and what you are recommending. Suppose here is Śukra in 5th in the kuṇḍalī of a wrestler, then you cannot advise him to worship Lakṣmī Mā, you should advise him to worship Annapūrṇā so that he gets food to eat, and gets strength. Śukra means source of power, i.e., Shakti. This is the meaning of the word Śacī. Sha means Shakti and that is how I am talking about the source of power. Think more about this, and focus on the words and syllables spoken by Parāśara.
For Śani, it is not Brahmā, it is Brahma, because when there is Śani in 5th house, the person thinks like an old person. Because he has lived his life. Neti Neti is the concept that explains Śani in 5th house. This is a philosophy of the Upanishad. And to understand that, you have to take the Sannyāsa Mārga. That is why sannyāsa is coming, Brahma is the root of the word Brahmacārī, and the word Brāhmaṇa. I will explain this deeper as the class progresses, just remember that it is Brahma and not Brahmā. It is very clear. If you understand Parāśara, you will say Brahma, Parāśara can never say Brahmā. Śani indicates Sannyāsa yoga, but if you say deity for Śani is Brahmā who abused his four sons for taking sannyāsa; this is a confusion. It is a complete state of confusion. You are telling it is Brahmā, who encourages everybody to get married. Then how can he be the deity for Śani who talks about sannyāsa yoga requiring one to be celibate and nonmarried. It is contradictory, can’t you see the contradiction? There is a clear contradiction between Brahma and Brahmā. So, you have to decide, what it is. And my decision is, it is Brahma and not Brahmā. I am very clear on my thinking on this, I have given you my reasons, you will see I will quote some yogas, as we continue on dhyāna and mantra bhāva.
If Rāhu is in 5th, deity is Durgā. And it is Gaṇeśa, if Ketu is in 5th house. The person who has Ketu in 5th, if he sincerely worships Gaṇeśa, he has three sons or he will have three grandsons. It will be three. We will come to this point again. Let us stick to our path of Mantra bhāva. We have not yet started on mantras. We are just trying to understand first, what to do. Now you have understood the basics of Mantra. Citra is Śukra. Śabda is Guru. So, the root of mantras, is Guru. You should not give mantra to a person if your Jupiter is not good. These days, every person is giving mantras blindly and distributing it like chocolates. It will cause a severe bad karma. Don’t give mantra like this, it can also cause damage if wrong mantra is given. Do not get into this thing. You can indicate the Devatā. Even today, I am very careful. If someone asks me, I say for example: “I think you like Kālī very much, why don’t you explore this”. Then he explores and comes back to me, and requests for a mantra. I check like this and check if my confirmation is right or not. Also, a planet can be sitting in 5th house but it may not have manifested because daśā has not yet come. Not all the grahas start working at birth. It happens with time and daśā. Please keep all these factors in mind. Time is so crucial.
Our 5th house is most crucial first. We have now become clear, that two spiritual teachers are Guru and Śukra and are related to mantra and dhyāna respectively. The fundamental kāraka of the 5th house is Jupiter. Śabda or words spoken are indicated by Jupiter and mantra is indicated by Jupiter. Creation is done from Śabda. Words and images are the building blocks of projection-planning. Before you build something, a house for example, you start with words and images, and that is a projection. This projection goes to your 5th house, and you start planning. So, this is working in the mantra bhāva. And then you actually start building that thing. Am I being understood? Nothing in this world happens by itself. Nothing! Everything that is happening and will happen, it is you who have planted its seed. All karma that you are experiencing today has roots somewhere in your past. 5th house is that crucial and is the way out.
So, now, we come to the Devatā from the point of view of Jaimini. Jaimini is slightly different from Parāśara. Jaimini is not talking about the 5th house at all. He talks about the Kārakāṃśa. Jaimini is talking about the Kārakāṃśa. He is talking about the Mukti from the point of view of the Ātma, and not of body. He says that you should look into 12th house from Ātma. Why is 12th house, a house of Mukti? That we have understood now, it is 8th from the 5th. The planning and projection from the 5th house is finished (8th) by the 12th house. When you are ready for Mukti of the Ātma, you will be ready to enter Jaimini Sutra. And you will look at the 12th from the Ātma in Kārakāṃśa. Then you will think about the form of the Bhagavān. Jaimini has cleared that Bhagavān has no form. The other theories of Jaimini say that Bhagavān has no form. The mind wants a physical form of God or an image of God. Image is called Citra. Citra comes from Śukra. Bhagavān is Śabda, Śabda means word or syllable, and it comes from Bṛhaspati. Then why are you pulling Śukra in that? Śukra is Guru for Asuras and will give inauspicious gati. It is your own ichcha or desire that you are giving form to God. It is your own desire. First of all, no graha should be in 12th from Kārakāṃśa, ideally. You created or your mind has created the image. How did it create? Through Śukra because Śukra is the Kāraka or Śabda is Jupiter. Bible also says, first there was the word. Hindu also says Akṣaram Parama Brahma. Every religion is saying the saying the same thing. Then what is the need of an Image or a physical form of God? Image is needed to create feeling of love towards God. Love is linked to images. You can love somebody if the Citra or image of that person is in your heart. That is why every mantra is accompanied by dhyāna. Dhyāna is Śukra and mantra is Jupiter. Now you understand why.
If mantra is Jupiter, which is the highest mantra? It is that mantra which has created everything because Jupiter is ever-expanding, and it should be purely sāttvika because of Jupiter. It has to be Om. There is only one mantra which has created everything. Three Ṛṣis explained this, they were:
Gautama
Atri
Bharadvāja
That is why these three gotra are considered to be very high gotras. Because if these three gotra were not born, you wouldn’t know Om today. All of the knowledge of Hindu dharma have expanded from three Ṛṣis, they found Om. So, these Ṛṣis gave rise to Brāhmaṇa varna. In Bhagavad Gītā, Śrī Kṛṣṇa has clearly stated this: “Here is only one true mantra: Om”. One day you will realize this, that Kṛṣṇa revealed the truth in Bhagavad Gītā.
Om has to take a form. If there is even a single graha in 12th house, it is guaranteed that you need a physical form of God and you can’t worship God without the physical form in mind. Because graha is the physical body, and it has come in 12th house from Kārakāṃśa. This graha will indicate that physical form of God that you like. For example, I like Jagannātha, I was once in West coast, they asked me to teach. One person was carrying the Jagannātha mūrti, I said: “Please don’t take Jagannātha away, please keep him here, I won’t be able to teach without him, that is food for me, that is food for my mind”. That is my weakness. And the same is my strength. This is what bhakti is. If Jagannātha mūrti or image will be there, I will keep teaching the whole day. If he is not there, then I will would be like, leg is hurting or headache is there. Why is it so? Because the mind, which is Moon, which is fluid, which is flowing like a river. When Moon gets Śukra, it exalts, starts flowing with devotion, and that is why you need Śukra for bhakti. That form or rūpa of God will be known from 12th house from the Kārakāṃśa, See, there are two things, Kārakāṃśa and Kārakāṃśaka. Kārakāṃśa + Ka. “Ka” is considered Brahmākṣara. There are two syllables of Brahma, “Ka” and “A”. “A” creates Ātma. “K” is used by Brahmā to create Body. Vowels create Ātma. Consonants create body.
Student: (Inaudible)
Guruji: there is a difference between both syllables. Krīṃ Bīja of Kālī comes from Ka. When you chant this bīja, your body will come in harmony with your mind. Have you read Kālī Karpūrādi Stotra? This is what is explained in that stotra. Ka is Brahmākṣara. Karpūra is the word, you remove the last two syllables, Pa and Ra and use first one and a half syllable to form the Bīja mantra Krīṃ. “E” sound comes from Vāma-karṇa (from stotra). And thus this bīja mantra is formed. You see the point? So, when we are talking of the body of the God, it comes from the 12th from the Kārakāṃśa, kāraka + aṃśa = Kārakāṃśa.
Kāraka means Ātmakāraka, and aṃśa means Navāṃśa. So, adding Ka in Kārakāṃśa gives us Kārakāṃśaka, means it has to be brought into the Rāśi kuṇḍalī. Sometimes people use it loosely. The moment you become loose in Sanskrit, you will make a mistake. It is the same thing as “swa”, what will you say swa? Ātma or mana or Body? All of you is Swa. So, we should not be loose in Sanskrit, we should be as exact as we can. For example, have you heard about Raṅgācārya? He is very perfect in these things. He is of the generation of my grandfather. Those people were very perfect in these things. They don’t tolerate if you change the Sanskrit. Somebody said, “Lagnāṃśa daśā”, he corrected him, he said “Lagnāṃśaka daśā! It is not Lagnāṃśa daśā, do not call it Lagnāṃśa daśā”, he is so perfect. A normal Jyotishi will not notice the difference between Lagnāṃśa and Lagnāṃśaka daśā. Lagna’s aṃśa is Lagnāṃśa. Lagnāṃśaka means you are coming back to the Rāśi chakra. That is Lagnāṃśaka daśā. He is the one who taught Lagnāṃśa daśā. But you see the perfection of that man. I like perfection in people. So, there is a big difference between Kārakāṃśa, and Kārakāṃśaka. Kārakāṃśaka is in Rāśi kuṇḍalī. Aṃśa is some divisional chart or the Navāṃśa chart. But the aṃśaka means coming back to the Rāśi chart, bringing that sign of that aṃśa chart, back to the Rāśi chart.
Be very careful with this. Lagnāṃśaka daśā is a very well known daśā and is a very accurate daśā system. Kārakāṃśa means the Navāṃśa containing the Ātmakāraka. You will see that your best friendship will happen with a person who has same Ātmakāraka as you and that is in same Navāṃśa as you, i.e., having the same Kārakāṃśa sign and the same Ātmakāraka. That is the bestest friend you can get. Because that person will walk this earth alongside you and will understand the soul level condition you have, is already having the same soul level experience that you have. This is however is a totally different fact that you may have difference of opinion because of the materialistic things in life, but here we are talking about the spiritual part of life. There will be a unique kind of inner connection you will feel with that person. For example, when I was resigning from the government job, for me, it was a calling from inside. I was frustrated that when I would apply my learning that in had learned Jyotish from my Gurudev. I felt: “Would I spend my life just doing this, looking at few horoscopes of govt officers, is this the limit of my life”? This was a calling from inside. You know how I started? I am explaining to you the importance of Citra. I was the only officer in food ministry, who had the courage to put a picture of Śiva on his table. I had such a big picture of Śiva on my table. All the people there were commenting bad about me about what I was doing. And on the same time, there was this Rāma Mandir fight that was going on. So I brought a big picture of Śrī Rāma and put it on my table. My bosses said to me: “You cannot put these pictures here, this is not your home”. I tolerated it, and I was quiet. They transferred me to other room. I carried that same photo in other room and put it there on my table. So, they were absolutely infuriated with me and transferred me somewhere that I could not put that photo on the table because I had to go around and see the work, and do inspections. I was like: “Such goons are here in this office”. They transferred me into defense ministry. Then I brought a photo of Bānke Bihārī, I loved that photo and I would look and be happy. Whenever too much office work would come, I would look at Bānke Bihārī, and be very happy. Gradually it started changing me, I said to myself, “No! I have to work for him (Bānke Bihārī), this (govt job) is all bogus. If something happens to me, none of the colleagues would come. He (Bānke Bihārī) will only be with me”. So, when I left the Job, and when I left the Job, people said, “Sanjay! come out, you have to teach also”. There was a lady who helped me. My Ātmakāraka is Saturn, and its in Virgo Navāṃśa. The Lady who took me from here to London, and for the first time in my life, I went out of India to teach. Before that, I did not want to go out of India to teach. I was biased against people outside India, I thought they were non-vegetarians, and this and that. Being in government job, I lived in such a closed thing. I had a very narrow opinion. So, somehow God had to break that narrow opinion. Her Ātmakāraka is Saturn and is in Virgo Navāṃśa. The person who received me over there, and who organized my everything, that is, the president of the Organisation, had Saturn Ātmakāraka in Virgo Navāṃśa. And the other main speaker with me, there were two main speakers, me and one more from America, she was also Saturn Ātmakāraka in virgo Navāṃśa. What will you say about this? Mind and nature of four of us, do not match. But somewhere inside brought us together. And I was teaching Jaimini from my heart. And after that day, all three of them changed and they accepted that Jyotish in India is very deep and the astrology we do from Rāśi and Navāṃśa, is not enough, Indian Jyotish is much deeper. They changed from that day.
I also changed from that day. I came to realize that Bhagavān is not the copyright of Brāhmaṇas of Jagannātha Puri. It is for everybody in the world. It is a very important realization for me. My mind opened a bit. Bhagavān shattered my prejudices and that was good for me, otherwise I was a completely closed personality. So, somewhere the Ātmakāraka can break that door and the one who broke that door for me, was Kṛṣṇa. For me, it was Jagannātha Kṛṣṇa. Why? Because I have Mercury in the 12th from my Kārakāṃśa. So, Jaimini’s teachings fitted correctly for me. Jaimini ṛṣi talked about Mukti from 12th from Kārakāṃśa, but what do you mean by this Mukti? It is Mukti from your own mind. We are bound by our own mind. That is why Mukti is the liberation from bondage of your own mind. So, the image of God that will give you this Mukti, is of the form of God represented by the planet in 12th from Kārakāṃśa. If there is no graha in 12th from Kārakāṃśa, it is good because you don’t need that image to break free from the bondage of your mind. But if you still need it, you can take its lord. But you will get only an idea from that Lord. That, if it is Sūrya, it is Śiva. If it is Candra, it is Gaurī. If it is Maṅgala, it is Śrī Kārttikeya. If it is Budha, it is Viṣṇu in earlier scheme, here it is also Viṣṇu for Budha but the name used here for Viṣṇu is Nārāyaṇa. It is Brahma for Śani in earlier scheme, but here it is Nārāyaṇa/Viṣṇu for Śani.
See how Jaimini is differentiating, and there is certainly a difference between both scheme. Understand the difference. It is Agni there, and here it is Śiva. It is Jala there, but Gaurī here for Candra. For Maṅgala it is Skanda there, but here it is Skanda here, but the name used here is Kārttikeya. It is Viṣṇu there, but here the word used is Mahāviṣṇu basically Nārāyaṇa. It is Śacī there, but here it is Lakṣmī Mā for Śukra. There it is Indra for Bṛhaspati, but here Jaimini says Sadāśiva for Bṛhaspati. There it is Durgā in a beautiful rūpa for Rāhu, and some beautiful shudra deity is also mentioned there for Rāhu. Here, in Jaimini, only Durgā Mā is mentioned as a form of Caṇḍikā i.e., Caṇḍī-Cāmuṇḍī is the form mentioned here for Rāhu. For Ketu, both have mentioned Śrī Gaṇeśa. You need a form, there it was Brahma for Śani but Brahma has no form, and but here Jaimini has mentioned Mahāviṣṇu (Nārāyaṇa = Mahāviṣṇu), for Śani. So, Brahma has no rūpa, so that is why some people think Makara Lagna person as an atheist. Actually, Makara Lagna is not atheist but he doesn’t believe that God has a form because Brahma is the deity mentioned for Śani and Brahma has no form. So, when you talk of freedom of religion, who can give the best freedom of religion? Śani can give highest freedom of religion. Because Śani believes that God has no form so it doesn’t make any difference if you call him as Jesus or Śiva. As long as you do good karma, God is happy.
So, now we have got Devatā from 5th house and we have got devatā from 12th from Kārakāṃśa. Our objectives this river of devotion. This river of devotion, starts from 5th house of Rāśi kuṇḍalī and end at 12th from Kārakāṃśa. I was talking of 5th house and we came to mantra. When we came to mantra, we were talking of starting, and now we are talking of ending. Once, you have attained Mukti, it is complete. After that it is not my Jyotish-responsibility. God knows, it is his headache. My responsibility is to see the beginning (aadi, i.e., adhidevata), and see the end (anta), actually it is not the end but it is a temporary end. It is not vedanta. Pratyadhi Devata is not Vedanta in itself. But it will take you to Vedanta. Am I clear now on this? So we now have two important devatas, one is Adhi Devata and other is Pratyadhi Devata. It is the responsibility of Adhi Devata to put your mind in the river of devotion and you start travelling in the boat. Then you will reach the end of the river before it goes into the sea. What will happen in the sea is a different issue. We are concerned with taking the person from there to there. Okay? Now: There are some vital points between the beginning and the end. We will do vital points in next class, please note. In next class we will do the vital points, what we call the landmarks in the spiritual path. Today in class, we will examine the 5th house. We will do some case studies now.
Take the horoscope of Prabhupāda.

He has Dhanu Lagna, Lagneśa Guru is in 9th house. Sūrya and Ketu are also in 9th house. Candra and Maṅgala are in 6th house, so, Candra is exalted. Śukra and Budha are in 10th house, Rāhu is in 3rd house. Śani is in 7th house. Our main issue is the 5th house. Please tell me about the 5th house. 5th house is empty. Why was he such a great bhakta of Śrī Kṛṣṇa?
Student: Because Moon is with 5th lord.
Guruji: So why is it nor Jala and Gaurī, and why is it Kṛṣṇa? First thing check that 5th house is having any graha or not. So, it is empty. In this case, we take the 5th lord. First see which graha are yuti with 5th lord Pañcameśa. First step is conjunction. In case of absence of conjunction, look at the aspects coming, which can influence but cannot change the devotion. Only conjunctions can change devotion. So, I don’t consider aspects as important to make a prediction. Aspects means that someone outsider is saying something to you, that cannot change your devotion. Yuti can change. Prabhupāda’s pañcameśa is yuti with exalted Moon. It is in 6th house, and theKāraka of 6th house, is Śani. So, Moon is easing the sorrows in 6th house. Kāraka Śani means that it could be Mahāviṣṇu or also known as Nārāyaṇa.
From the graha, I took the Jala tattva (symbolizing emotions), and then I took the Kāraka of that house. We have two systems, one is Parāśara’s list and other is Jaimini’s List. Parāśara’s list is for 5th house, i.e., planet in the 5th house and the 5th Lord. But since I also took the Kāraka of the 6th house, we are talking about Kāraka so, it is Jaimini’s list. Jaimini’s list is for Kāraka and Kārakāṃśa. So, now I got Jala tattva. From Jala tattva, bhakti came because of Gaurī Mā. There was a Devī that he was attached to. It has to be a Devī, undoubtedly, because that is Candra. So, he will consider it a form of Mother Divine, and that is how the yoga will start, and he won’t worship Kṛṣṇa without that Devī, as the 5th lord has conjoined the Moon. That Devī is Rādhā. You study it and explain it why it is Rādhā.
Student: (…)
Guruji: 5th from Ārūḍha? That is right. But see, the trines to Moon. Budha and Śukra are in trine to Moon. That I accept also, because that is important. It is because of debilitated Śukra. But you could also say that Moon is in Duḥsthāna, and so, when you talk about Devī, that Devī must have seen lots of sorrow. Of all the devis, Rādhā has seen a lot of sorrow. He will that form of Devī who has seen lots of sorrow, he will respect that. It will suit his 5th house and 5th lord. He would like Mīrā and Rādhā a lot. The principle is, what is the form that attracts the Citta. He wouldn’t say Kṛṣṇa he would pronounce Kṛṣṇa as Rādhā-Kṛṣṇa. There is difference. He has always worshipped Kṛṣṇa with Rādhā, and never did he worship Kṛṣṇa without Rādhā. This is the importance, and this is what I am trying to tell you. As Jyotishi, you have to catch that Candra. If you miss that Candra, your calculation will be wrong. If he wouldn’t worship Rādhā, he could never worship Kṛṣṇa. Am I being understood? Is it very clear? So, Jala means Devī.
Now we are focusing on and trying to catch the 5th house and 5th lord. Now, we will do it for everybody’s chart.
Student no. 1: Venus and Rāhu in the 5th house.
Guruji: Okay, everybody, please tell me the deity for this.
Student: Durgā
Guruji: Durgā, right? Yes. There is an old habit in her family, instead of saying ta-ta, bye-bye, they say Durgā Durgā. This is unique. The word Durgā is magical for her and directly works on her citta. Okay. Next
Student 2: Jupiter in 5th house
Guruji: You have Jupiter in 5th house?
Student 2: (….)
Guruji: So, next time, bring your chart. Next.
Student 3: Sūrya, Śani, Candra, Rāhu
Guruji: So, 4 graha: Sūrya, Śani, Candra, and Rāhu are in 5th house.
Student 3: There is Parivartana between Sūrya and Guru.
Guruji: Okay. So, four graha are sitting in 5th house in Mīna Rāśi. Guru and Sūrya are in Parivartana. Can anybody tell, who will he be devoted to?
Student: Rāma
Guruji: think of 4 planets
Student: Gāyatrī mantra
Guruji: that’s for sure, 5th house Sūrya means it is Gāyatrī mantra straight away, because Agni devatā is the devatā of Gāyatrī mantra.
Student [Sarbani Rath]: Moon is there in a Jala tattva sign, so, definitely, Devī’s worship is present.
Guruji: I really love to hear what you say because you have applied what I taught and went a step ahead of it. You have really applied my teachings. It is Jala Rāśi and four graha are present in Jala Rāśi, two are dry (Vāyu Graha Śani and Rāhu), one is Agni graha the burning Sūrya, but what is going to happen is, Sūrya’s Agni will not be sufficient for the oceans of Mīna rāśi, sunrise will be inside the big ocean. Agni is weak in Jala sign. If Jala Graha is sitting in Jala rāśi, it will be the strongest. Even if he starts the Gāyatrī mantra, he won’t be able to do it consistently. Because Sūrya is an Agni graha and is sitting in Jala rāśi. Gāyatrī will be up and down. It will not sustain. 5th house is Jala rāśi and I wanted to hear this from you. Among the four grahas, Candra is the strongest. And Candra is Jala and represents the forms of Divine Mother. Now, tell me about the form of Divine Mother which will be shown here. The form most be from rest of the three planets, i.e., Śani, Rāhu and Sūrya. Among these three, Śani and Rāhu are against Sūrya. So, being majority, they will oust Sūrya. So, remove Sūrya. Now, Śani and Rāhu are left to consider. Among them, Sūrya will take counter-revenge and will try to weaken one of the two. Sūrya is likely to hit Rāhu first. So, Śani is left. Form of Divine Mother is represented by Śani. Now you can easily say, Kālī is that form of Divine Mother. So, he will worship Kālī. So, we have done a simple analysis, and followed systematically, it is Jala rāśi. Gāyatrī mantra will be up and down and won’t sustain. Likewise you should know the relationship between 5 tattva.
Agni and Jala cannot be together. Vāyu and Pṛthvī cannot be together. Remember these 2 principles. This is the biggest tragedy of Mercury and Saturn. Mercury is Pṛthvī and Saturn is Vāyu planet. Mercury is the young man, Saturn is the old man. Mercury is so irritated with Saturn because Śani talks like an old man. They cannot sit together. Just like the Sun and the Moon. They are father and mother, but when they come together then either Sun combusts Moon or Moon extinguishes the fire of Sūrya. This is peculiar thing. Okay, let us go into next chart.
Student 4: 5th house is empty.
Guruji: okay, so, 5th house is empty.
Student 4: Lord is Śukra
Guruji: So, Śukra is 5th lord. So, you have Mithuna Lagna.
Student: Śukra is in 9th with Sūrya
Guruji: Śukra is in the 9th house with Sūrya. So, everybody tell me, what is her bhakti. I told you the rules, 5th lord is Venus and is in yuti with Sūrya. So, because of yuti we have to ignore the 5th lord and take the graha which is Yuti with 5th lord. Sūrya. We did the same method in case of Shrila Prabhupāda. So, there is only one devatā for her, i.e., Agni. She asked me, I advised her Gāyatrī Mantra. Was I right or wrong? I was right. You will have a problem in doing the Gāyatrī mantra because it is in Kumbha Rāśi. So, it won’t be easy for her to do that. So, what she should do? She should chant Rāma Rāma. This will ready her body for Gāyatrī mantra.
Student: Why Rāma
Guruji: Parāśara gave Rāma name for Sūrya, he said Ra for Agni, Ra means Agni and Rāma name is also derived from Ra.
Student: Sūrya is also the Rāma avatar.
Guruji: No, no, no, we are not doing that, and you cannot say that it was Kṛṣṇa for Prabhupāda because of Moon. We can do that on a later stage, but not now. We are now going by straight rules, and it is a female deity from Candra.
Student: but here Śukra is the lord then why are we ignoring Śukra
Guruji: Yes, it is the lord of 5th. But the fact remains that it is conjoined Sūrya. So, the graha in yuti dominates. Because when two planets sit together, they do each other’s work. They can work properly only if they work for each other’s task and responsibility.
Student: Śukra is in 12th from Kārakāṃśa.
Guruji: That is totally different, that is the ultimate result. We are talking about the starting. If you don’t start walking then how can you reach the end. Somebody asked me, that person came to know for the first time, that there is a list called the Vedic astrology list. He mailed me, “please tell me my Iṣṭa Devatā”. I was like, “he thinks of himself as a great Maharṣi, is straight away jumping to Iṣṭa Devatā”. When you don’t even know a mantra, the method to do mantras, and you have not even started worshipping any devatā, and you are straight away jumping to the Iṣṭa Devatā. I want to make you understand that this is a long river. You don’t even know how many births you have to take to reach the 12th from Kārakāṃśa. You have to start first. My point of writing “Vedic astrology” book was to make people understand that there is depth. Because at that time people thought that there is no spirituality in Jyotish. They said there is nothing called spirituality. I said, “if there is nothing called spirituality in Jyotish, I will not be doing Jyotish. Are we clear on this? We are talking of first step. Let us be clear on taking first step, if I put the first step correctly, my journey will be alright. You did Gāyatrī first and left it (Guruji is talking to Student no. 3). Then you came to me, and what did I tell you. “What are you doing here? Go to Rāmakṛṣṇa Mission first and take Gāyatrī mantra. Otherwise don’t come to me. Didn’t I say this to you?
Student: Yes
Guruji: And since you have taken Dīkṣā there, your Jyotish is going just fine, and everything is going well also in your home and life. Why? Because 4th lord is Saturn. Saturn talks about your sukha, inner happiness and bliss in your life. You have four planets in 5th house, so, I did not want to give any such mantra to you which would hurt your 4th house. Never hurt the 4th house, that is your mother. If you hurt your mother, you won’t be happy anymore. When the 4th lord has conjoined the Moon in the 5th house and that too in a Jala rāśi, then there wasn’t anymore to think, so, I told you to go to Rāmakṛṣṇa Mission, so that your 4th house is pacified and only then you would learn Jyotish peacefully. Now, all mantra will sit nicely. Because your first step is strong. That is the 4th lord. Okay next chart.
Student 5: 8th house kāraka in 5th house, Gemini is the lord, and it is with Sun and Venus in
Guruji: what is the Lord?
Student 5: Mercury is the Lord.
Guruji: Mercury is the Lord. You have Mīna Lagna?
Student 5: Kumbha Lagna
Guruji: So why did you say Gemini is the Lord?
Student: 5th house Lord.
Guruji: There are no planets in the 5th house? Where it is placed?
Student 5: Mercury is in Lagna.
Guruji: Very good.
Student no. 5: with Sun and Venus.
Guruji: With Sun and Venus. So, whom will you take?
Student: (…)
Guruji: Please let him speak.
Student 5: Both Sun and Venus.
Guruji: There is no point in taking both. This is the first step of the river, tell me one of them. First step.
Student 5: Can’t say
Guruji: Why can’t you say? What is your 4th lord?
Student 5: 4th lord is Venus.
Guruji: So, what is the priority? What is the 9th lord?
Student 5: Venus.
Guruji: So? What is there to think so much? What is the rule that I told you? Wherever 4th lord and 9th lord are involved, that becomes the priority. If you hurt the 4th lord, you will let go of the mantra by your own free will. So, be clear on it.
Student (Gurvi Sarbani Rath): yoga of 4th and 5th lord.
Guruji: I know I know. 4th and 5th are there. So, basically, that powerful yoga is there, but when it has to be identified, it has to be Venus. Am I being clear? Did I give you any mantra (Student 5)?
Student 5: (….)
Guruji: I did not say anything? What is your Ātmakāraka graha? What did I tell you? Basically, Śukra indicates your gati.
Student 5: Sri Śakti (Lakṣmī Mā)
Guruji: How can it be Sri? When we are talking of 5th house and 5th lord, we are talking of Parāśara, otherwise we would talk of Jaimini, but the problem in this horoscope is, that Śukra is also his Ātmakāraka. Now, you are stuck. Now you have to prefer the Ātmakāraka. Ātma is the form of Śiva. Śivoham Śivoham. (I am Śiva). That Śukra is actually a form of Śiva. First, you do the Gāyatrī, and ready yourself for Ātmakāraka. Problem is that your Śukra is Ātmakāraka. Suppose Śukra was not Ātmakāraka in your chart, then what would I say?
Student: Devī
Guruji: Which Devī
Student: Lakṣmī Mā.
Guruji: Right, it has to be Lakṣmī Mā. That is the correct answer.
Student 4: mine is also Ātmakāraka.
Guruji: Oh, so, that is why you are having problem in doing Gāyatrī mantra. Most of you have this. Problem is coming because it is demanded that you do Ātma-śuddhi first. Ātma-śuddhi is done with Gāyatrī mantra. Ātma-śuddhi has such an effect that during this sādhanā, you could have bad health, mind is distracted most times, you will feel weak, vomiting feeling would be there, you won’t feel like eating anything, you will feel as if whole world is bad. These are the signs of Ātma-śuddhi. When we are seeing these signs, it is clear that the person is sincerely doing Ātma-śuddhi. my perspective of seeing you is different than how you see yourself. These are the signss of Ātma-śuddhi. When that will complete, then your spiritual path will be like a rocket. Because the 5th lord has conjoined Ātmakāraka. If 5th lord has any relation with the Ātmakāraka, it is very good for quick spiritual development.
Why? Because your mantra is working directly on your Ātma, it is touching your Ātma. So, naturally you are going to feel it like Ātmakāraka daśā which is bad in experience. So, this mantra will be like Ātmakāraka daśā, which is bad because you are not spiritual. When purification process starts, it hurts. You have started this mantra and this will start the purification process. Am I being understood? What is the way out so that it doesn’t hurt so much? The way is to worship Śiva in that Jyotirliṅga which is your Ātma. Because Ātma is jyoti, Ātma is Śiva.
Sūrya: Rāmeśvara
Śukra: Tryambakeśvara
You can do the Jyotirliṅga mantra with Jyotir bīja. What is Jyotir bīja?
Student: Hauṁ
Guruji: Hauṁ is Sadāśiva bīja. Give me the bījākṣara which gives you ātma-jñāna. Ātma is Śiva, Śivoham, Vivekānanda said this, and all others said this. If you have more knowledge than them, then you can go. I believe what they have taught. Ātma is always Śiva and never changes in guṇa, and Ātma is Sadāśiva. Ātma is sarvajñānī, knows everything and has all knowledge. So, it is Sadāśiva bīja, Hauṁ. Then add the Jyotir bīja, which gives you knowledge, it is Ra. Combine Hauṁ and Ra to make Hrauṁ. This is the Jyotir bīja mantra. You are Jyotishi and you don’t know Jyotir bīja mantra. It is important for you, otherwise how will you have ātma-jyoti? Hraum gives ātma-jyoti. If you want to worship Ātmakāraka, then use this bīja along with the name of the related Jyotirliṅga.
Example is given as: Om Hrauṁ Namaḥ Śivāya. So, mantra is Om Hrauṁ Namaḥ Rāmeśvarāya. Om Hrauṁ Namaḥ Somanāthāya. Yours is Om Hraumṁ Namaḥ Tryambakāya. What will I say? Om Hrauṁ Namaḥ Mahākālāya. This gives ātmajñāna. When you feel like Ātmakāraka’s daśā like pain, do this mantra. It will give you knowledge, you won’t have pain. Clear?
Student: Yes.
Guruji: That means you are sincere. I like Sincerity.
Student no. 6: Ketu is in 5th.
Guruji: If Ketu is in 5th house, who will be your devatā? Gaṇeśa. Do you like Gaṇeśa ji?
Student 6: Śiva pūjā is my main pūjā.
Guruji: Why Śiva pūjā is the main and not Gaṇeśa? You have Ketu in 5th, do you have any other graha in 5th?
Student 6: No
Guruji: Who is 5th Lord?
Student 6: Śani
Guruji: So, Śani is the 5th Lord. Where is it placed?
Student 6: He is with Bṛhaspati.
Guruji: Oh! That is why you worship Śiva because 5th lord is with Jupiter. Because according to the most standard texts of Jyotish, if 5th lord is with Sūrya, it will give you Śiva bhakti. If 5th Lord is with Guru, it will be Sadāśiva or Śiva, it is called as Jyotirliṅga. If 5th Lord is with Candra, it is the Divine Mother. So, you have Ketu in 5th, so it is Gaṇeśa ji. Your 5th lord is with Guru, so, you worship Śiva. Why did you not Gaṇeśa ji and worshipped only Śiva? Tell me why. Where is your Lagneśa?
Student: in 10th house with Rāhu
Guruji: Your Lagneśa is yuti Rāhu in 10th house, so, the problem is there. Your Buddhi said, “no, I will worship Śiva and I will not worship Ketu”. Naturally, Rāhu will always stop you from doing it. Problem is that you applied your own intelligence, and the moment you analyzed this with your own intelligence, Rāhu will not allow you to worship Ketu. But actually, you should be worshipping Gaṇeśa. Are you able to understand my point? It means there is a conflict between your own buddhi and your own future. Your intelligence is the enemy of your intelligence. Can you see? When the Lagneśa is conjoining the planet which is inimical to the planet which is inimical to the planet in the 5th house, person is utilizing his own brain and getting diverted. He is applying intelligence and changing his bhakti. But you won’t get bhakti until you bow down at the feet of Gaṇeśa. Because Gaṇeśa is sitting there.
Student: We have to see the 4th house, and 9th house also..
Guruji: yes, you have to see the 4th and 9th too. Naturally, 4th lord is Saturn, that’s why he is finding peace of heart from Śivaji. That I know. But he has to do Gaṇeśa Pūjā because Ketu is sitting in the 5th house. Ketu is sitting in the 5th house.
Student: (…)
Guruji: Yes, he is sitting there. The graha sitting in the 5th house is so crucial that if you appease that graha, then your planning projection will not improve. I have Sūrya in the 5th house, I am a Mīna Lagna person, you think I will like to worship Sūrya? But it is a priority for me, I have to do it, my Gurudev has told me. I am Mīna Lagna person 5th lord Moon is in 12th and in yoga with Mercury, my Iṣṭa Devatā is Mercury and is vargottama. I am happy with Jagannātha, I don’t need anything else. They are unnecessary disturbance for me, but I have to do. My 5th house Sūrya is in water sign, I start then I stop, then start, then stop, it goes on like this. Same story. It is nothing new with you. I am also human being and am subject to same rules, and the rule will apply to me also.
Student no. 7: Maṅgala and Rāhu in 5th house.
Guruji: Maṅgala and Rāhu in 5th house? So, who should be the deity
Student 7: I like Hanumān ji
Guruji: You like Hanumān ji?
Student 7: Lagneśa is also Maṅgala.
Guruji: So, your Buddhi also supports it. Lagneśa is also Mars. It is clear to you. But why is it so? You feel protected with Hanumān ji. What does Śāstra say?You are not worshiping Kārttikeya. Why did you link Maṅgala with Hanumān ji? Śāstra says Skanda, which means a deity which makes you feel protected. You feel protected with Hanumān ji. That is why you are worshiping him. Clear? Next chart!
Student no. 8: Cancer Lagna, in the 5th house there is no planet, and Mars is in 7th house with Sun and Mercury.
Guruji: so, tell me which Devatā do you like
Student 8: (….)
Guruji: Don’t look at others, you have to find it yourself. You like whoever you like, why should you look at other’s horoscopes?
Student 8: Bhagavān Viṣṇu
Guruji: So, you like Bhagavān Viṣṇu. 5th lord is with Mercury. Mercury is also Ātmakāraka
Yes, you will like Viṣṇu, and this is also good for you. Good. There is no planet in 5th, so, there is no disturbance. But tell me why did you not take Ketu as 5th lord?
Student 8: because Mars is with Ātmakāraka
Guruji: Not Ātmakāraka. The reason is that because Mars is with a greater number of planets. Where is Ketu?
Student 8: Ketu is in 4th house
Guruji: Ohh. So, tell me one thing, worshiping Gaṇeśa will give you peace of heart, won’t it? Do you worship Gaṇeśa?
Student 8: Yes
Guruji: Please give a place to Śrī Gaṇeśa in your home temple, otherwise the people who have Ketu in 4th house, you know very well, what happens. Last class, I think we did that. Yours was the live example. we did not know about you, and when you told us that you have Ketu in 4th house. And you described your situation and you saw how beautifully it fitted. He has tossed your life upside down. When you know that Ketu is in 4th house, is the 5th lord and you know that worshiping Gaṇeśa will give you peace, you should worship Gaṇeśa.
Student: and Ketu as 5th lord in 4th house is again Viṣṇu.
Guruji: Thats why I have asked him to do it because the yoga is there between 4th lord and 5th lord, so that the Yoga functions. The mind will broaden completely. The yoga of 4th and 5th lord is beautiful because it breaks all the prejudices and boundaries of the mind. You are fortunate. Do something about it.Next chart.
Student 9: 5th house has Candra and Ketu
Guruji: So, you have the yuti of Candra with Ketu. Who do you like? Gaṇeśa?
Student 9: (….)
Guruji: you don’t like anybody?
Student: which is the rāśi in 5th house?
Student 9: Dhanu
Guruji: Dhanu rāśi is in the 5th house with Moon and Ketu. He is Siṃha Lagna. Okay, tell me, is the Ketu 4th lord or not?
Student 9: yes
Guruji: Okay. Forget Candra for a while, 5th house is Agni rāśi. Let us go by the same principles. He also came to me in a confused state. I only told him, “go right now and take Dīkṣā from Rāmakṛṣṇa Mission, don’t talk to me otherwise”. I was very strict with him. Ask him. I did not look at his horoscope. I had just come out of my dhyāna. So, I was in that effect. He knocked the door, I opened the door, and asked him “who are you?” He had came for the upper floor and knocked my door by mistake. I just saw him. I said to him, “What are you doing here? Get out and go to Rāmakṛṣṇa Mission and take Dīkṣā”. If I am connected to my Ishta, I will see who his Ishta is. Because they are one. Clothes are different, but God is one. That’s why I could see his Ishta. Then he also came with his horoscope, and we did all calculations, and found the same in his chart. So, now you tell me. You have Agni rāśi in 5th house. Candra is in 5th house, so, you start worship of Mā, but you are not able to sustain it. Do you see the problem, just as Sun in water is bad, Moon in fire is bad, it cannot be stable, there is no stability over there. On the other hand, look at Ketu. Ketu is 4th lord in 5th house, you should focus on that. If you focus on Gaṇeśa, your 4th house will become super, your mind will become very calm and happy. You will get a clear-cut focus. So, do a Gaṇeśa mantra. Gaṇeśa Mantra and Gaṇeśa dhyāna. Remember this, we are talking about the 5th house, and remember the importance of dhyāna. I hope you understand. have a clear visualization. How to do dhyāna? Have a nice photo of the deity. Start from the feet, and look at what he has worn in his feet, and start chanting the dhyāna and start going from bottom to top. I do Somanath like this.. while you chant the dhyāna śloka, look at the picture and start going from feet to top slowly and steadily while looking at every detail. Take dhyāna from feet to head, never take it from top to feet. Start from feet of Bhagavān and go upside. Never bring the dhyāna down. Take it up. Then close your eyes and the entire picture should be available in your mind. And keep that picture in your mind and start mantra on it. Then after some time, while you are still doing the mantra that image will dissolve. Image is the initiator, and it has to go away. Ultimately, the words will remain, and that is what we want. Okay? This is mantra practice. Please start Gaṇeśa mantra.
Student 9: I like Śiva
Guruji: where is 5th lord?
Student 9: 9th house
Guruji: where is Sūrya?
Student 9: (….)
Guruji: You probably like Śiva because he is your Ishta. But your path will start from Gaṇeśa. Until the devotion will not start from the 5th house, you will not be able to reach your Ishta. This is so clear. You may like Śiva, and maybe after some time, you may like somebody else. There is no limits to these likes. think from the mind point of view, it changes oftenly. Bhakti is deep, you dissolve yourself into that and you don’t exist anymore. You are becoming one with that devatā, and wherever you will go, you will see that devatā only. That is bhakti. For example, although I have two planets in 5th house, but 5th Lord is in 12th and is the Moon, I like Meera very much. I can’t understand why am I attracted to her. But 5th lord has gone into 12th. You see Prabhupāda horoscope, 5th lord Moon is in 6th house and is with Moon. Mine is 5th lord Moon is alone in 12th house. When Meera’s bhajan starts, I don’t know what happens to me, its just fantastic. I think she was the greatest production of God ever if we are to say that Bhagavān is making different different characters in this movie called life. What courage and character she had. Okay. You think about Gaṇeśa. Next chart.
Student 10: Kumbha Lagna, Mercury is 5th lord and is with Venus and Ketu
Guruji: so, tell me,
Student 10: I worship Durgā.
Guruji: explain me from your chart why do you worship Durgā Mā
Student 10: it is with Venus
Guruji: 5th lord is with Venus. See, 3 planets are sitting together. Budha is 5th lord. Leave him and see the other two. One of them is Ketu and another is Śukra. Śukra will denote a rupa of the Devī. Normally, it should be Lakṣmī Mā. But this is debilitated Śukra. So, now you will look for a Devī who saves you from torture of Śukra. That is Durgā. See, whenever 5th lord is with debilitated or peedit, or lajjit avastha of Śukra, it is Durgā who can save. Durgā Mā saves you from Dur+gati. A debilitated graha can give dur+gati. That is why you are worshiping Durgā Mā. Since when are you worshiping Durgā?
Student no. 10: I am worshiping Durgā Mā since school time.
Guruji: You are doing it since school time. So, when astrologers will se your chart they won’t be able to understand why this debilitated Śukra did not give you any bad results. Durgā Mā saved you and will keep protecting you from debilitated Śukra. You see the beauty of it? I have seen when someone has such a bad Śukra, and starts worshiping Durgā Mā, that Śukra gets pacified quickly. It works beautifully. Thankfully, Śukra is there, and if Śukra was not there, you would have also said that you worship no one. Do you know why Ketu does that? There is another name for Ketu: Mahāśūnya. You see, Sarbani has pīḍita Śukra because Śukra is with Rāhu. She worships Durgā Mā. An exalted Venus indicates Annapūrṇā or Annapūrṇeśvarī. When Śukra has Rajas, then you will say Lakṣmī Mā, who gives wealth. But when Venus is pīḍita, it is Durgā or Caṇḍī or such forms of Mā. A very important thing is that if you want to stay happy in India, worship Durgā. Because Venus is the Lagneśa of India, Vṛṣabha Lagna.
Next chart
Student 11: Vrischika Lagna. Sun and Mercury are in 5th house.
Guruji: Now, tell me who is the Devī or Devatā
Student no. 11: I worship Devī because 4th Lord is with.
Guruji: I did not understand. Who is 5th Lord?
Student 11: Jupiter
Guruji: Where is Jupiter?
Student 11: Jupiter is with Maṅgala in 4th house
Guruji: If Jupiter is with Maṅgala in 4th house, how does it mean Devī? It will indicate Hanumān ji.
Student: there are no planets in 5th
Guruji: Sun and Mercury are in 5th house. 5th lord Jupiter is in 4th house with Maṅgala. Pisces is the 5th house. Where is Moon?
Student 11: Moon is in 3rd house.
Guruji: You have Sun and Mercury in 5th house. Why did you not chose deity from 5th house and worship them?
Student 11: I have desire to do, but not able to do.
Guruji: So you want to worship deity from 5th house but are not able to do it? Very good that you acknowledging your problem. I have same problem. We both have same issue.
Student: Sun in Pisces.
Guruji: Yes, yes… Sun in Pisces is the reason. I have Sun in Cancer. Do you see that? Something is common. My Guruji scolded me so much, “you shameless fellow! Despite being a Brāhmin, you are not doing Gāyatrī”. I used to reply, “I will do it Guruji”. So, I would start it with great force, and then after few days, could not keep it up. That’s it. Why is it happening? Because it is a Jala Rāśi. Mercury is in debility in 5th house. Two planets, Mercury and Sūrya. Mercury is debilitated. Sūrya is in Jala rāśi. 5th Lord Jupiter is in Kumbha Rāśi with Maṅgala. So, what happened to the mantra bhāva? Finished. So, she is worshiping according to the 9th lord. 9th lord Moon is with Saturn in 3rd house. Where is Śukra?
Student 11: Śukra is in 6th house.
Guruji: Śukra is in 6th house.
Student 11: I can do fasts for planets related to 5th house, but I can’t do mantra.
Guruji: Yes, its understandable. Like I have a weakness of Śiva which I cannot explain. That is true.
Student 11: I want to do it, like whenever I pass through a temple on the way, I bow down. But still I can’t sit and properly do the mantra linked to these grahas in 5th house.
Guruji: Yes, same with me. I also do for Śiva, at least once in a year I do somehow. Mine is in Karka in 5th house, which is better than yours Mīna. Mīna means Sūrya has completely drowned. I go once a year especially to perform Rudra abhisheka.
Student 11: So, I should also do?
Guruji: Yes, definitely you should worship Śiva and Viṣṇu. That is Budha and Sūrya. Choose one of them, either Viṣṇu or Śiva. But I really think you should choose Sūrya. See, planet is weak, that is why mantra is weak. If planet was strong, mantra would be very strong.
Student 11: in Navāṃśa chart in 5th house, I have.
Guruji: Don’t talk about Navāṃśa today, discuss only the Rāśi chart.
Student ( Gurvi Sarbani ji): Maṅgala is Ātmakāraka, when why isn’t she do it? She should do it.
Guruji: If you let her do it, you can try and go ahead and do it. If she worships Maṅgala, it will smash the 4th lord. And then you will see what will happen to the home. There will be havoc in her home. But my question is, if Sūrya is weak, that weakness is in you. If I have Sūrya in 5th house, I should do Gāyatrī. I am not able to do it, or to keep it up, because Sūrya is in Jala Rāśi. I start I stop I start I stop…. This goes on with my Gāyatrī mantra sādhanā. Mine is still flowing however so little in amount. But yours is in Mīna, it is the the great Oceans. Sūrya is completely drowned in these oceans. And until this mantra settles properly, your future cannot improve.
If mantra is not settling properly into the 5th house, the Citra will not settle properly. Projection and planning will not be that good. I did not started from mantra, I started from there to mantra. Mantra is the remedy for that. What is the need for mantra. Why is it necessary? Without this, future projection will not improve. You live in the present, and forget the future if you don’t want to do mantra. That is what a sadhu is. Perfect Sadhu does not anything to do with tomorrow. They don’t even keep food with them. They are prohibited from accumulating anything. Parāśara Muni has given a rule that Sadhus can’t store food for more than three days ahead. Sadhu is living in the present and is not concerned about future or past. You are thinking about tomorrow that is why you are thinking about mantra. Rishis have only one mantra “Om”. All other mantras like om Namaḥ Shivaaya, Om Vishnave Namaḥ etc and other mantras also are in the 5th house and Rishis have left the 5th house permanently and have taken sanyaas. So, they are focused on only one mantra Om. So, you should come into the 5th house because you are not a sanyasi, and you decide and tell me in the next class.
Student 12: 5th lord Jupiter is sitting in the 7th house alone.
Guruji: So, tell me about your devotion to Śiva.
Student 12: It is for Kṛṣṇa
Guruji: Why Kṛṣṇa and why not Śiva?
Student 12: I don’t know. But I am devoted to Kṛṣṇa since childhood.
Guruji: Her 5th lord is Jupiter is in 7th house in vrishabha Rāśi, how can it indicate Kṛṣṇa. Where is the Moon, what is happening?
Student 12: Moon is in Meṣa
Guruji: So, Moon is in 6th house. That is sure that Kṛṣṇa is indicated by Moon. But how can Moon influence your 5th house and what is the linkage of mantra with Kṛṣṇa.
Student 12: I like his image.
Guruji: That is so clear. I too like his image so much. So, you also agree that we are not able to take the final destination with 5th house. If we see it from Ātmakāraka, it will be clear.
Student 12: Budha
Guruji: In which Navāṃśa is Budha placed? Tell me the degrees of your Budha.
Student 12: I don’t know the degrees and Navāṃśa placement of Budha.
Guruji: Okay, we will do that in next class, but you have soul level connection with Kṛṣṇa.
Student: in which rāśi is it placed?
Student 12: Tula, with Śukra.
Guruji: That is a straight Kṛṣṇa yoga because 8th lord is in 12th house. 8th lord in 12th house is Kṛṣṇa Yoga. 8th lord in 12th or 12th lord in 8th, it gives straight Kṛṣṇa bhakti.
Student: is it because Viṣṇu is the devatā of Mercury?
Guruji: No. It is irrespective of Mercury. Be it any graha, here I am talking about the lordship. 8th lord in 12th or 12th lord in 8th, it gives straight Kṛṣṇa bhakti. Straight yoga for Kṛṣṇa bhakti. We will discuss more of it later. But today we are restricted to 5th house. So, if you want your future to improve, you should do mantra according to 5th lord in 7th i.e., Jupiter alone, so, do Sadāśiva Mantra. Sadāśiva means Spiritual teacher. Your spiritual teacher is very important for you. I have seen it so many times that people have bhakti from Jupiter in 5th house, and they say, “No, I don’t do Śiva mantra”. Then I ask them, “your Guru must be very important to you”, and then they agree “yes, my spiritual teachers have made my life”. In one case, the person belongs to such a poor family, 5th lord conjoins Jupiter. I asked him, “do you believe in God”. He said “no, I don’t believe in God”. Then I asked ” what role have the teachers played in your life”. He said, “very crucial role, my teacher gave my school fee for whole of my studies, because I did not have money for school fee, because I was constantly topping the class”. So, you see, right from starting of life, whole future, complete planning and projection for his future was done by his teacher. Why are you looking for a form of Śiva? THAT TEACHER IS Śiva. 5th lord with Jupiter, straight case. If you thank and appease your Gurus, it is your own fault. For example you had (other student) Sūrya and Budha in 5th house in Mīna rāśi, you must think what role have your father played in your future, what role you yourself have played in your future because Sūrya is self. Budha means the relatives, so, you must think what role have my relative played in my future, and are they helping in building your future, or are they harmful for your future. Am I being understood? You must think. Now, I was only about the mantra and graha. These graha, these mantra and these devatās will come through the people around you. Please note. Along with vital points along the spiritual path, we will also talk about the vital people, which is very important. many a times what happens is that such a person is right in front of your eyes but you can’t understand his/her importance in your life. they are very important. Okay. So, we did some good discussions today. Okay, so done for today?
Guruji: Oh how many of you are remaining? At least 3 to 4 of you are remaining?
Student: I have brought Tirupati Balaji’s Prasad for you
Guruji: Wow, what a nimitta, as soon as we started talking about your chart, Tirupati Balaji’s Prasad has come. Lets do your chart
Student 13: I have Mithuna Lagna and Budha is in 5th house, and daśā running is also Mercury daśā, and the antardaśā is also of Śukra. Śukra is 5th lord. Budha is with Maṅgala.
Guruji: Whom do you like very much?
Student 13: I like Gaṇeśa ji very much and I worship him.
Guruji: You like Gaṇeśa ji very much?
Student 13: Ketu is in 9th house, and in Navāṃśa, Ketu is in 5th house.
Guruji: Hmm… That is a good point. I am noticing something. In female horoscope, 9th house is very important. Why is it so?
Student: but 9th house is very important in everybody’s chart
Guruji: But see, in female horoscopes, like she has Budha and Maṅgala in 5th house, and Ketu is in 9th house, she likes Gaṇeśa ji very much. She (another student) has Moon as 9th lord, and she like Kṛṣṇa very much. She (yet another student) has 9th lord has Moon and she like Devī very much. Can you see? There is something that we are missing, and we are going to cover that in next class.
Stri Jataka is an important part of the Hora Sastra. Now won’t like me when I say, “Females are more religious than Men”. Bhakti in female is more than in men because Jala tattva is more in female than males. Because Moon and Śukra are female planets. Bhakti is considered a feminine trait. Fortunately, Jupiter is in Men’s side, other all other male planets are not so into bhakti. Maṅgala, Sūrya are full of Ego. Parāśara has said, 9th house in female horoscopes, is the house of Children. 5th is the house of children for men. Please focus on this before we sit for the next class. I gave you three examples who are sitting here. Okay. Next chart
Student 14 (female): Śukra is the 5th lord.
Guruji: please tell who is the 9th lord.
Student 14: Mercury
(note from writer: Śukra is 5th lord and Budha is 9th lord, means it is the makar Lagna)
Guruji: who do you have bhakti for?
Student 14: (….)
Guruji: Lakṣmī Mā Nārāyaṇa?
Student 14: I also like Durgā very much.
Guruji: You like Durgā very much. Which graha is in your 5th house?
Student 14: its empty.
Guruji: and 9th house?
Student 14: no graha in 9th house. Venus is in the 11th house, and, Budha is in 10th house.
Guruji: Okay, now tell me
Student 14: (……)
Guruji: I know you are highly devoted to Viṣṇu Bhagavān.
Student 14: Yes. And I also do “Durgā Durgā”. I also worship Śiva.
Guruji: How many planets are in your 10th house?
Student: 4 planetss. And I am not confused when it comes to devotion.
Guruji: Yes, I know that you are not confused at all. She also also likes to go to the pilgrimages, it is very clear. Those three horoscopes, and this horoscopes we will do in the next class very specifically. I will focus on this on the ladies charts, it is very crucial.
Student: Ātmakāraka is Saturn and it is in Mīna Navāṃśa, and in my 12th from Ātmakāraka, there are three planets, i.e., Moon, and Budha and Ketu.
Guruji: Those are three. But how will you explain from the Rāśi charts. From my point of view, your 9th lord is Mercury and is with 3 planets, one of them is Rāhu?
Student 14: No. Mercury is with Sun, Moon, Saturn.
Guruji: Now tell me which are the Devī devatā from these graha? Shiva ji from Sūrya, Devī from Moon, Saturn is exalted, so, Saturn means Viṣṇu Bhagavān. That is my point. Where am I wrong? Moon is with Saturn. She is highly devoted to Devī. Whereas, She(another student) has Moon as 9th lord and is in 6th house, and is a form of male deity. We will go into male and female form of deities according to houses, in next class, which house are male or female. Guru bhakti may be very strong, because… where is Jupiter in your chart?
Student 14: 7th house,
Guruji: That is a kendra. Actually, we will see Guru bhakti from 9th from Navāṃśa. We will go to the 9th house from Navāṃśa, and the 9th house from Kārakāṃśa and the Bhrātṛkāraka. These we will study in one more class. See, that is so much. As much as we can do, we will do, We will focus on spirituality. 9th house is very important for ladies, because that is where projection happens for ladies. Children are in 5th house for male and 9th house for female, so, we will study how 9th house thinks about children. And how 5th house thinks about children. That is devotion is higher in women. That is why women are more duty bound to children than men are. Because for women, children are 9th house, and for men, children are 5th house. We will do all this in next class. Okay next chart/
Student 15: Kumbha Lagna, and Mars is in 5th house and in exchange.
Guruji: Kumbha Lagna and Mars is in 5th house in exchange with?
Student 15: Mercury in 3rd house
Guruji: So, Parivartana is between 3rd and 5th house. So, due to Parivartana, should I look into 5th house or the 3rd house?
Student (Gurvi Sarbani ji): I also had Parivartana in 3rd and 5th house but you saw the 5th house only
Guruji: So, I saw the 5th house, right? Even after Parivartana I saw the 5th house, so, here also I will look at 5th house.
Student 15: I like Hanumān
Guruji: Naturally, Maṅgala is in Gemini, who else will be worship. Like Sūrya is in Pisces, Maṅgala will be that weak in Gamini. You will do it for some time, and then you can’t sustain it. Maṅgala in Gemini is very very weak. So weak it is.
Student: He said he worships Śiva.
Guruji: Check 5th lord. Mercury is in Mesh. What are the planets which are yuti with Budha?
Student 15: Sūrya is in Meṣa with Budha. Jupiter is also there.
Guruji: That is why you worship because Sūrya is yuti with 5th lord. Sadāśiva because of Jupiter. Clear? So, 5th lord is what you like from inside, but the graha sitting in your 5th house, denotes the deity that you MUST worship to enhance your future. My 5th lord Moonis in yoga with Mercury and Mercury is my Iṣṭa Devatā. Jagannātha Mahaprabhu. Because you get good prasad from Jagannātha Temple, sweets and 300 types of dishes are offered to Jagannātha. Why would I worship anything else? I can easily live there, I would have nice breakfast in temple, then in lunch, dishes would be prepared in temple, and then evening snacks in the temple, and then night dinner is also there. I can easily live there. I used one or two days in Puri temple in childhood, dad would not allow more than that. But you think, Sūrya and Śukra are in 5th house, and I would HAVE TO do for Sūrya and Śukra. What I want to do from my heart, I am not able to do. Because two planets are sitting in 5th house.
Student 15: you told that we have to check the 4th house vis a vis 5th house. In my case, 4th lord is Maṅgala, and so how does that go with Śukra?
Guruji: That is not very God with Śukra. But Śukra is in the Rāśi of Maṅgala. That is why Śukra is taking the form of Durgā rather than taking the form of Lakṣmī Mā. You are feeling protected with Durgā Mā. Maṅgala or Skanda indicates need for protection. That is why you are looking for Durgā. Budha also, you may not feel so secure with Budha. Whereas, with Śiva, you feel very secure because Sun is very friendly to Maṅgala. With Budha you feel, “its my dharma, its my duty”.
Student: 15: from inside I feel very happy, close and secure
Guruji: That’s because it is 9th lord. A person will be closest to 9th lord. Ladies will be closest to 9th lord, and gents will be closest to 5th lord. But that does not enhance your bhagya. The graha sitting in 5th house enhances and improves your bhagya. First you should work on the graha that is sitting in 5th house.
Student: I was talking to you, you said if Śani daśā is running, then Maṅgala mantra should not be done. And you also gave me a mantra. Now Śani daśā is running in my chart and Maṅgala is sitting in 4th house. So, should I do that mantra?
Guruji: Maṅgala will beat the 4th house.
Student: so, I should not do that mantra. Right?
Guruji: Which mantra of Maṅgala are you doing?
Student: No, I have not started yet. But you told me to do it if Śani is malefic.
Guruji: Yes, if Saturn is malefic, then you should do it.
Student: you told me something like…. Nṛsiṃhāya Namaḥ
Guruji: Oṃ Kṣrauṃ Namo Bhagavate Nṛsiṃhāya (12 syllable).
Student: so, if Śani daśā is running, which mantra should I do?
Guruji: Tell me where your Saturn is.
Student: 3rd house
Another student (Gurvi Sarbani Rath): I have 5th lord with 9th Lord
Guruji: So, you like Jagannātha very much because of that Moon and Mercury yoga. You also went on the Jagannātha Ratha in the Ratha Yātrā.
Student ( Gurvi Sarbani Rath): I feel secure taking Durgā name. But I also feel very close with Jagannātha.
Guruji: That is because 5th lord is with 9th lord. 9th lord is which graha? Maṅgala is 9th lord.
Student (Gurvi Sarbani Rath): 5th lord, 4th lord and 9th lord.
Guruji: Listen. A lady feels very close and most attached to 9th lord. 9th lord is Maṅgala. Now ignore Maṅgala and look at the rest. See the planets that are yuti with Maṅgala. Moon and Mercury are yuti with Maṅgala. So, it is Kṛṣṇa. You are very happy with Kṛṣṇa.
Student: But I feel safe with Durgā.
Guruji: because 5th house is the thing. Rāhu and Venus are there. And when you take the name of Durgā, you will see that your problems will go away.
Student: Yes
Guruji: Because Durgā Mā is associated with your house. Please understand what I want to convey. I want to convey is:
“You like a deity. Put that aside. And check what is good for you. Working on 5th house is good for you. Forget what you like. If I did what I like why I will be sitting here. I would be in Puri. Why the hell should I be here, when I should I be in Puri. I have Rāja Yoga of 5th lord and 4th lord, that beautiful yoga of Moon and Mercury. But my future would be zero because I have Sūrya and Śukra in 5th house. I have to do something about them otherwise my whole life becomes unstable. There would be problems and only problems in my life. Can you understand? Work on your 5th house. Work on your projection”.
